Strange weather...you live well south of me and you gotten twice the snow this month, indeed strange.
This last snowfall came up from the south. We got flurries here in Bethel.
Yesterday's forecast (Weather Underground) was up to 5" in central Massachusetts

Had a successful gobbler hunt down in the southeast part of the state. So, didn't have to order online to get this organic meat.
---------------------------
Were the ticks bad when out and about?

Didn't get any hunting, but have pulled a couple off here from our woods hikes.

Good morning to all! Low was 32, but no frost. High today should see about 65.

Yesterday went well, picked up the materials, then I was able to get a few more shrubs planted. They were some bigger shrubs that have been growing in 1/2 barrel planters. They were really heavy and did not want to come out of the containers. Got them done and was just plain wore out.

Today, just a few small 1 qt size plants to go into the now empty containers. Landscape fabric and the drip system is next on the agenda. More time consuming than physical labor. Wifey reinforced the fact that this project needs to be completed before I start on the next. Wonder why she was telling me this?

Got a call from a neighbor a couple properties away, asked if my next door neighbor was home.... their horse was in HIS backyard freaking out. I was out running the errands, so I could only give him their phone number. When I got home, the horse was still missing, but I saw their car was in the driveway. So, walked over and they immediately saw me and came out. I asked if they got a call about their horse.... they replied “ well the phone kept ringing, but we did not answer “ .... I told them their horse escaped... and I left. Stuff like that makes me angry.... if you want animals, you need to take care of them!

Enough for the rant.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

A snowy 31ºF for today's low temperature. The temperature has been stuck on 32ºF all morning so far and it is still snowing. I measured 4.5" of really heavy snow this AM. That makes for +57" of snow this Winter so far. About 20" less than the now new :normal Winter. It was a 4WD drive to the dump this AM. The trees around here are still mostly dormant which is lucky- this snow is sticking onto everything. It has already melted off the deck and the driveway is more wet than snow.

Good news on the vegetable seeds.:) I was able to find normally priced seed packets in stock through Amazon with decent delivery dates considering we do not plant anything until Memorial Day weekend. We'll see.

"...why now no snow really all winter?"- Peter. I agree. There were very few "classic" winter weather events like Alberta Clippers, phasing jet streams, nor any true nor'easters until recently. Nice rig. I could take out a lot of mailboxes with a setup like that.

gstrom- Welcome to GM. Usually I like mid/late April snows, but with the crappy Winter we had this year I am ready for Spring.

Bill- I am sorry to read about your cat. It's never easy. Hang in there.

Phil- Thanks for sharing your planets picture. I agree about the less than desirable weather the coming week.

Eric- I am happy you were able to corral the wayward lamb and get the patina of dung off your tractor and freckles off yourself.

RonJH- Nice picture. Our resident Red Bellied Woodpeckers have "disappeared", but I can still hear them calling. I am running low on suet. I thought about visiting TSC, HD, etc., but the time and mileage involved + the potential C-19 exposure just did not meet my cost-benefit analysis.

Billy- I would be interested in a bear scat photoshoot. They eat a lot of laid frog and toad eggs/gel in early Spring. Congratulations on the turkey.

Ted- Very few things get my undies in a bunch, but animal neglect is one of them.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Saturday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

34 going up to 52 today. More rain. Never saw much snow this season, so bugs are already getting thick in the air.
Heard from the locals that April 27 I can plant tomatoes and more sensitive items, some I have in containers downstairs. Wife is getting tired of containers everywhere :)
Didn't get anything done yesterday, had to work my day job. Seems dog is ok, just ate something that she probably shouldn't have (like most days).
Vet made some money.
Hope all are well.

The only benefit of April snows other than the free nitrogen is that it briefly suppresses ticks and blackflies around here.

You said it LS. When I was a boy at home and the heifers would get out Dad and I would drop everything to get them back home and in pasture. I can't think of too many things that upset him as much as livestock "running amok"

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 8:30AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 72F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Congrats on your turkey, Wng! Hope you and the bear can find some way to get along. I'm getting reports of them coming out further up the canyon; I just hope they stay up there.

Nice shot of the planets, Phil, and the snow movie worked fine, too. What kind of camera is it that has such a long exposure setting for the planets?

I've had escaped cows on the property a couple of times; here I've heard it's MY responsibility to put up fences to keep them out.:confused2: I find it easier and more entertaining to chase them home with the Kubota side-by-side. But I don't get the neighbors not answering their phones. Don't they even have an answering machine?:muttering:

Glad your flowers dodged the frost bullet, Drew. How long before you start seeing blooms?

More and more wildflowers are popping up here every day, and the grass is getting longer, too. Gonna need to start mowing soon, but with no word yet from the dealer, who knows when they'll be able to give the tractor back?

Got the pump house cleaned out for the solar install yesterday; oh my gosh was it dirty in there. Going to throw out, or more likely, burn, a bunch of old molding that I haven't found any use for in ten years, along with a redwood 2x4 that is so warped in both directions I can't imagine using it for anything but firewood.

Aside from touching up the cut ends of the solar panel rack pipes, and pulling off the tarps from the concrete generator pad, I've done about as much as I can until the tractor gets back. Not sure what else I'll get up to today, maybe try to clean off a couple of bench tops in the garage/shop?

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Almost forgot. Pretty cloudy yesterday, so I didn't think there'd be much of a sunset. But at about 7:30 out the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of rose, and when I stuck my head out the door, this is what greeted me:

Be safe
Have a great day

I was able to get a brief cloudless shot of the sky yesterday. Here is Mars, Saturn and Jupiter in the sky going left to right. Nice being able to see planets with the naked eye!

Just shared with wife the IRS note about about Stimulus deposit.
Her comment, “doesn’t mean you can spend it right off”
Obviously she doesn’t know meaning of stimulus.

Jbrumberg; that was the cat that I put down last November. I had already taken the BH off and put the rear blade on. I put her in the deep freezer that we keep for dead pets. She has her own little coffin as well.
2012_01_18_IMG_0002.jpg She will be waiting at the rainbow bridge for me.
The back yard is really soft, so instead of driving into the spot, I backed in and I am glad I did. I do have two ruts to flatten out, but the sod wasn't busted, so maybe it will level itself out.

On the way out of my pet cemetery I attacked the stump from the spruce tree that fell over last spring. That thing was rotten right to the crown. There is a burn ban so I cannot burn it out.

All my ordered vegetable seeds ordered through Amazon have shipped. :)

Our last local curbside produce/food order was a little short, but we did get some frozen hamburger yesterday.

Now I am killing time waiting to drive down to a local bakery for a curbside pizza and bread pickup. They make an awesome white pizza and their breads are really wholesome good.

RNG- A surprise gift. Thanks for sharing.

Bill- I hope your pack and pride members waiting at the bridge have a long wait. I have 16 pets waiting.

Good afternoon! Decent weather day here. Too wet to mow though.

We went gun shopping today. My wife has a new toy.

Roger SP101, 38/357, 4.2 barrel. She liked how this one felt in her hand. The shop had another with a full wood grip she didn稚 care for the feel. Also tried out a GP100 with 3 barrel that was a close 2nd to this one. May go get that one for myself. I liked it. This one feels pretty good to me too. Balances nice.

She also has hatched 6 Silver Appleyard ducklings from eggs she ordered. Not a common breed. We had 2 in the past, the drake lived 10 years.

Everyone stay safe out there
