The problem I have with dry hemlock is not the twisting it's the splitting when nailing, nails great when green but then the weight when green is a back killer, almost as bad as oak.
I am going to have a nailer someday... I致e been saying that for years. Another thing which helps is blunting the nail point before driving it. I hit it once on the point, then flip it and drive it. I知 not sure why that helps but never could see questioning something which works.Even with a nailer? (and soap)

I don't like handling big stuff like that because my back hates me afterwards.

Got me beat, I only have 4. 2 finish, a roofing nailer, and a framing nailer.
