EA is a phenomenal company. They thoroughly test, or destroy, all of their products before they sell them and post the videos as proof. Ted, Peanut, and Travis (often answers the phone) are all phenomenal. The Wicked grapples are hard to be beat. They aren’t cheap but are probably by far the best money can buy as is pretty much any of their EA implements. Not cheap but all overbuilt and they stand behind their stuff.

I don’t know anything really about the LS since I couldn’t find a dealer to see them, i didn’t spend a whole lot of time researching them. I have seen, stat on, and operated a Kioti NX though and they are premium grade tractors. They have all the features Kioti offers. If they had a HST+ transmission like the new Kubota I ordered has, I would own one in a second. With all that said the extra features come at a premium. You can probably buy a 70hp RX series Kioti for the same price or cheaper than the NX... Reason... Features.

I would have bought a RX7320 last fall but i couldn’t fit it in my garage. Even with the ROPS folded it wouldn’t fit through a 7’ door. The property we live on is an investment property and I don’t have a machine shed. None of my equipment ever sits outside so I did’t buy it. The NX is a direct competitor to Kubota’s Grand L series. The RX compared to a Kubota M7060.

What does the + transmission offer on the Kubota?

Easiest way to learn it is to look up YouTube and Neil from Messicks did a very good video on the HST+ transmission. More or less it changes your 3 speed hydro stat into a 6 speed. Confusing.. i know initially.

When you are doing a lot of heavy loader work you typically run a HST in low range. But then when you have to travel with the load you just scooped you are limited to the speed of low range unless you stop, manually shift to medium, and start going again. For most people this isnt a big deal. But if you are doing a lot of loader work this takes a lot of time and you end up running in a slow gear most of the time. For the HST+ there is a lever on the console and you can shift between high and low within each range. So in Medium high or medium low, low low and low high..

With it you can stay in medium the whole time and just flip the lever on the console and go from low to high without stoping or shifting to go from loading to traveling. The video on Messicks shows the added features as well which are are all very convenient.. and expensive. Its worth the 7 min watch. I’ve probaby watched it a dozen times

I didn't look at the video yet but you explained it perfect to me. Kind of shift on the fly type deal, I can see it making alot of sense if you are scooping and running stuff a distance. One thing I liked about kioti is the antistall feature. Being a green tractor owner hopefully in the not to distant future I can see that being a benefit, along with the linked peddle for throttle.

At this point for me being my first tractor it will be a guessing as to what would be the most beneficial.

Thanks for the explanation!

Both of those are also included in the HST+. Stall guard, Link pedal (Kubota calls it auto-throttle advance), HST sensitivity control so you can adjust how aggressive the HST responds, and a couple of other things. The big one though is the shift on the fly feature. But it comes at a significant premium price over the more economy models.

I ordered my L6060 2 weeks ago and the dealer still can’t tell me even when they expect it to arrive at their dealership. Its been pretty frustrating since the weather is finally good and we have a million tasks on hold until the new tractor arrives.

Thanks for the education on that, it's good to know all the options that exist. Does Yanmar have something similar? I though I recall when I looked at them there are 2 buttons you can choose to change gears within gears, but I could be off base with that.

The Yanmar has the IHMT transmission on the YT347 and the YT 359.

I believe that you will see the prices of LS go up in the next few years. Right now they are the new kid on the block trying to build up market shares, but they make some darn nice looking tractors.
I don't think that I have seen anybody here complaining about any real problems with one.
I'm a hard core Kubota snob but it wasn't so long ago that they were just starting out here.

100% agree. One reason I bought the LS. I do not expect much depreciation as it builds market share and it is part of the LG group and should have good backing. I still believe the Kubota is a better machine but not enough to justify the cost. Also, to get a Kubota with the lift capacity I needed was about $8-10k more.

To the OP, I got the MTL grapple for $1000. I do a bit of woods clearing but its main use is firewood processing. One nice feature of the LS is even with the high lift capacity, it fit under my garage door (93" IIRC). Increasing door height was possible but it would have added more cost. Be aware the LS does not have the lift height of other machines but that was not a factor for my needs.

Last thought on the cab. It depends on your environment. With a lot of large low hanging limbs you have to be careful to the point it becomes a PITA. If a lot of small ones, a cab keeps you from getting slapped in the face. You will want one if doing snow removal and winter work....which I do. Sensitivity to cold is different for everyone. I used an old JD855 for one winter and it was not too bad but it did not have a blower.

So I'm looking at getting my first tractor, looked at NH, Yanmar, Kubota, Deere, and LS so far, will be looking at Kioti in the next few days. The price I got on an LS 4150 Hydro was $26000 for tractor and $6000 for backhoe and $850 to add 3rd function. He wants $300 to load rear tires. Was wondering if anyone bought one recently and if that is a good number. That is forgoing the 0% Apr of course. I haven't drove it yet but out of all the other so far the Yanmar is leading but the price tag on that is a lot more. It was a YT347 and price is $42394 forgoing the APR where as the the LS comes in at $32000. No third function on the Yanmar but does include loaded rear tires. Any thought or feedback would be appreciated, seems like a huge price difference to me.

I looked up the machine you are considering this morning and the price seems unreal. Not sure compared to what other people have paid but compared to my Kubota L6060 I just ordered Id say your are saving $15k or more. For my L6060 I ordered it with loader, 3rd function, R-4s, 3 rear remotes all float float valves, open ROPs since Im also in the woods all the time, 72 Bucket, pallet forks, and a Hr2572 box blade (box blade was $3k alone). Total price came to between $44-45k.

Man I hope I love this HST+ transmission for a long long time because if you got quoted $33k for that tractor with the backhoe that seems too good to pass up. Now Im wishing I would have found a LS dealer a little closer to see these in person.

I have an LS XR4150 shuttle shift, with backhoe, 3rd function, grapple, flail ditch bank mower, etc. Love the tractor. I have a dealer about 50 miles away. I think the price for what I got was about the same. I did not get a cab, as there is not snow here and I like the open station. But I did get a canopy. It was a great add on and was included in the price.
