That is even better to hear. The day may come when I need to downsize a little and I'm sure that saw is lighter than my 372XP.
All I can tell you is, I've cut load after load with mine, and it always starts right up and makes good power,

standard.jpg

I can say, that after about 5 tanks of fuel it seemed to make more power, my helper noticed it too, so I'm going to say it took that long for it to break in.

I've been looking for a 3/4 or ton truck with a manual transmission, mostly for off road use, and I was hoping to pick something up for under 2k. If it isn't 4 wheel drive it isn't worth $5.00 to me, 4 wheel drive is all I'll drive, unless it's a clasic car from the 50s and 60s.
Here ya go, It's been my wood hauler,

Come get it, but you have to bring 6K to drive it away...

It is completely legal to sell wood by the cord in Maine. You can sell by volume (cubic feet or cord) or by weight. What is illegal is to weigh the wood then use a volume conversion factor and sell b that converted volume

From the State of Maine Revised Statutes:
Title 10: COMMERCE AND TRADE
Part 6: WEIGHTS AND MEASURES
Chapter 501: WEIGHTS AND MEASURES LAW
Subchapter 2-A: MEASUREMENT OF WOOD
ァ2364
ァ2363-A. Measurement of wood
1. Cubic measure and standard cord. In all wood transactions the volume of wood may be measured in cubic feet or by the standard cord as provided for by the state sealer.
[PL 1983, c. 804, ァ6 (NEW).]
2. Weight scale. When agreed upon by the parties, weight measurement may be used in all wood transactions, under the following conditions:
A. The weight measurement may not be converted to volume...

What is the rationale behind that? Must be an interesting story.

I'm just guessing it has to do with the fact that firewood purchases generate the most complaints to the state of any forest related product sold. Too many people would gripe when they bought wood that the seller weighed and converted to cords, then when the buyer stacked it up they found the number of cords did not match what they were told.

That is how my 372xp has been too.

Seems like just a required disclosure notice would be better. Let people know what method was used to determine the unit price of the product. But Maine has their ways.

It would probably cost you more than $2K for something in decent shape, but how about a truck from the 50s/60s that is 4WD, good off-road, and rated for 3/4 ton off-road (one ton on-road)?

Brutus, my 1951 Dodge M37 (No, he's not for sale)

The downside is that the top book speed is 55 MPH, but it's much more comfortable running 40 or 45. A little under-powered if you want to go 45 mph up a hill, but it's geared to pull, not for speed.

For sale or not for sale, that’s the kind of picture we like to see.

Firewood is a very small portion of the Forest economy here, about on a par with “scrapping.”
(And it’s generally the same people doing both.) Laws on the books are for more than that product.

It is most places, I suspect. Don’t think Texas even regulates it. Just buyer beware.

ANOTHER fantastic day in paradise! lol Anyway, today I got started splitting/stacking that load of firewood we cut last weekend, into my half cord boxes

and moving them to my drying area,

then it's "rinse and repeat!!" lol

We have rain coming, so I guess I'll take a couple days off of finishing that load of firewood...
