When I opened this discussion one thing I wanted to see was if the same people who had been supporting 壮helter in place as a solution to CV would also support the ridiculous Virginia gun grabbing. Pretty much to a person that is the way it痴 shaking out.

Actually... Yes, I do think everyone should be allowed to OWN firearms just like knives, baseball bats, and hammers.

I also think we should have laws against killing people.

I do NOT understand how background checks prevent anything.
Whats to stop someone from passing the background check & then using the GUN to KILL you?
How many criminals could pass a background check before they committed their first crime?

MI has the standard background checks for buying from a FFL AND to get a PERMIT to buy ANY handgun.
Handguns then have to be REGISTERED.
To date, no crime other then carrying an unregistered gun has been solved or prevented by the registration.
MANY MANY people convicted for gun crimes passed background checks to buy their gun.

Why is it that states with the most restrictive gun laws still have some of the highest rates of gun crime?

So mentally ill people and people with violent criminal historys should be able to own firearms? Splendid.

The guy I know was a good framing carpenter that worked for me. He was in a bad marriage and his wife would punch and kick him for years. She was a drunk loser. Well one day he had enough, picked her up and threw her down. He did time for it and they took his gun.
Is that fair?

Goes both ways. He endured several years of physical abuse from her and never reported it.
How long does the average guy have to endure repeated physical attacks before one time fighting back? He literally picked her off of him and threw her off in self defense.
I’d doubt I would have lasted as long as he did....

I knew a guy who collected prized Winchester Long guns. Got into a domestic with his wife and the cops threw those rifles into the trunk of the cruiser like cordwood. Don't know if he ever got them back.

And this is where the “ slippery slope “ happens. We all are adults here and know the law is NOT applied equally. Therefore, when we allow new “ fair “ laws to be added to the unenforced laws already on the books, I become really skeptical.
These laws are agenda driven and the agenda is centralized government power.

If Government was at least effective in doing what they set out to do, that would be a different matter. They are highly ineffective and the BIGGER the Government, the less effective it will be.

One of the only good things about the "VIRUS". It set back Global agendas I believe.

I was just pondering the question that if I could snap my fingers and get rid of every firearm on the planet for ever, would I? I'm thinking probably YES.

While there may be other 'good things' about the "VIRUS" I do agree with your point about Global agendas. FEAR I once read can often stand for False Evident Appearing Real. Out of the current time of 'FEAR' I hope we gain a better understanding of who is for us and who just wants our $$$ so they can better control us. Yes guns get mentioned but historically man has been working to control other men for their own selfish gains by what ever means they can devise. We are living a time when there is a lot of talk about a virus that as of today NO man has a full grasp of with it is, how it does its think and how to stop it or at manage it.

Crawling inside of a cave to wait the virus out long term only ends in death. I plan to keep living until it gets me. While the world is in a state of FEAR people will use that to promote their agendas where they be for us or against us. I do understand this virus can not be stopped with guns but that some will die from guns. The desire for people to control the thinking of others is as old are humans. Like most issues that are at least two sides to the GUN issues.
