Yes, I can agree to a point. I was once a jurist who sat on a trial that the defendant was charged with attempted murder with a single shot shotgun.
Long story short, we found the defendant innocent for reasons of a totally trumped up charge. The shotgun had no bearing in the case. Anyway, during deliberations, there was one person who was not on board with acquittal. Her reason? She hated guns, all guns and was willing to send this guy to jail because of that. Not the facts, but her “feelings”. Still pisses me off when I think back about that case.
My whole point in this is there were laypeople deciding the outcome by a jury of his peers. For a decision that takes fundamental rights away from individuals, a jury, not the state should decide.

Lots of those kinds of social justice warriors run for election, win, then jamb their dogma up our backsides.
