Yes, I can agree to a point. I was once a jurist who sat on a trial that the defendant was charged with attempted murder with a single shot shotgun.

Long story short, we found the defendant innocent for reasons of a totally trumped up charge. The shotgun had no bearing in the case. Anyway, during deliberations, there was one person who was not on board with acquittal. Her reason? She hated guns, all guns and was willing to send this guy to jail because of that. Not the facts, but her “feelings”. Still pisses me off when I think back about that case.

My whole point in this is there were laypeople deciding the outcome by a jury of his peers. For a decision that takes fundamental rights away from individuals, a jury, not the state should decide.

Related: all I hear about from one side of the political aisle is how awful, racist, xenophobic, gun nuts the other side Of the aisle is, yet nobody can answer the simple question:
If this country is SO flawed, SO racist, SO freakishly gun nuts, then WHY do 1 million per year legally immigrate here and probably hundreds of thousands more risk breaking laws and their lives to illegally immigrate. And most of the immigrants are people of color?
I mean it’s a legitimate question to ask while were on the topic of gun rights since its in our Bill of Rights.

Again, go back to the full text: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The problem is that the "shall not be infringed" follows a salad of wording that was not written clearly enough. Whether you are pro-gun or anti-gun, you can make a case out of the wording (individual rights versus states rights, respectively). The "shall not be infringed" followup is kind of like a cherry on top, but some people see chocolate ice cream below and some people see vanilla ice cream below. If somebody (pro- or anti-) just runs around and screams "there's a cherry on top!" it doesn't help.

Well, considering that two cruisers were dispatched to the scene, and considering where the shots occurred, I consider the latter pretty unlikely - in fact, I'll go with nigh impossible.

As for the "rapid raccoon" and the rest of it ... doubtful ...
