I’ve bee reading all these posts about people coming from college and expecting million dollar a yr jobs which doesn’t work of course. Guess most feel entitled anymore. When I got out of high school I did my running around, never had a thought about college worked a couple low pay jobs. I don’t think I even knew what the word “entitled” meant. 1962 joined army, got out in ‘65 and went to work for a Baby Bell two months later. After I retired worked 4or5 more jobs couple yrs each and loved it. Maybe that doesn’t work anymore, I don’t know. I just think you can live a comfortable life without going into debt for the rest of your life paying for college and still maybe not getting a good job. Hope this post goes thru ok. Just joined so don’t really know how to do it.

Denny your post points out how there are many roads one can take in life and thanks for taking the time to post. This 2020 reboot is causing some to refocus. College has it's place but it's not the cure all. Kids need to learn how to support themselves and the reality of the real world. This 2020 reset can be a time to rethink what's most important at a personal and national level.

Upside? Grocery shopping has NEVER been so easy and enjoyable.

The first hour of operation is for seniors. This morning I left at 7:30 and did my shopping at two different stores three miles apart and was home in 45 minutes.

Offered a newly cleaned cart or basket at entry in addition to a complimentary (but not mandatory) mask



I wonder if they hand out masks in BANK lineups?

Not so.

The upside in Texas is the availability of testing.

Here in Texas there are hundreds of places to get tested some without any doctors referral. Some are clinics some are urgent care some are drive up some are mobil centers.

Also random testing was conducted in a county near Austin. All 150 people in the study tested negative.

IMO...With the coming (like it or not) advance of artificial intelligence the nation and most of the rest of the world is going to be shifting from an educationally based human workforce to a highly skilled labor workforce...with a large reduction in the need for humans educated in the engineering, clerical and IT type etc. fields...
Many of the top paying jobs in many industries will shift from executive and management type positions to labor positions that can not be accomplished with robotics...
It is inevitable and the current pandemic is only going to augment that inevitability...

Automation was on its way long before this pandemic. When I started at my last job 30+ years ago, there were over 500 employees. 30 years later there were 65 employees putting out the same product. ANYTHING a human can do with their hands can be automated. The question is if it's worth the money to eliminate that function with automation VS the person. Also, any process a person can do on a keyboard can be captured and automated to within 90% accuracy pretty quickly. Then you just have to deal with the logic to deal with the variables.
