Loud bang noise on start and stop of New Bx2380

Pretty sure this is a problem with some of the BX series. It is most likely the motor hitting the frame when it rocks excessively on start up or stop. You can determine where the impact point is and install a bumper of some kind, or loosen the motor mounts and shift the engine a tad away from the impact area and retighten.

Good idea on loosening the mounts and shifting them so they may not bang against the frame. I will look deeper into where the loudest bang is. Thanks for the comment.

...and redid the flooring with property felled rough sawn 5/4 red oak flooring.

I think what you are experiencing has been called the BX "death rattle" in the past. Yours might be hitting something like you suggested, however. My BX does the same thing, pretty much I think. Still running strong after over 16 years.

Question: What does "properly felled" actually mean in the quoted passage?

He said "property felled". Cut the tree off his land.

Ha, ha, shame on me! I built a kitchen in the house I am renovating next door, using - Property felled - ash with amazing grain. So I can relate to that, but need to improve my reading skills apparently. :)

Never heard that term before...

Probably coined by the guy that came up with wild caught fish.

Properly felled? I should have e used a better phrase. The lumber I used for the flooring on the woman’s “she shed” as it is known now, came from trees I cut down on our property. I had a local wood mizer sawmill guy come and rough saw them on site. I thought I wrote Property felled not properly felled. Big thumbs. Lol. Anyway - Here’s a pic of the guys working in the front yard and a pic of one of my pole barns with the lumber stacked and stickered Adjustments.JPGAdjustments.JPG. The red and white oak stack is on the left and there is a small stack of some walnut on the right I had milled that came from a friends property.

BTW Henro - thanks on your Bx death rattle comment. For 16 years, and no issue with the rattle, that’s super reassuring. Also - I cut the grass yesterday with the Bx and I honestly have to say it’s never looked better.

The mobile app sucks. Sorry but I just read your first comment about ash flooring. Ash is an amazing wood I love milling it. Very very hard. Adjustments.JPGI’ve had a couple medium size trees milled so far. That said most of the ash trees out back on our property are now dead or dying due to the emerald ash boring beetle. Another accidental insect from china, Korea and Japan. There is one large tree with about a 24 inch diameter I may cut down later this spring before it rots out. It’s a shame those trees are dying off.

Good looking wood, highly figured for ash.
