Couldn't you have simply cleared up the misunderstanding?

I lived here for decades and there were always Coyotes around. Some would just wonder by within 200 feet, going about their rounds, not phased by me or our activity. Had Cats all those decades, free to come and go, and knew of some that lived in the area without a home. Never lost a cat or had one of those homeless cats just disappear.

Then your coyotes must be well fed from other sources. I live a 20 minute drive from town and there are no close neighbors but still feral cats take up residence in my barn. Coyotes come around here most mornings...since I no longer have a dog I just let them be; I've put video of them several times on Facebook. But the feral cats don't last long - a coyote will catch one hunting away from the barn and it is dead a few seconds later. Watched it happen. I don't interfere.

I suppose it's a matter of opinion. I spent a lot of time on the water in my younger days, and never considered any of it wasted. We would seine minnows, catch crawdads by hand and perch with worms for bait; run and bait trot lines, go pluggin for Bass, fish from the docks for Crappie, and go swimming when the day was about over. Never considered any of it wasted. Didn't care much for cleaning the fish, but certainly enjoyed eating them. The Summer, the boats, the lake and staying with my Grandad and Uncles was Heaven to me. It slowed a lot when I found out about girls, but I loved it more than I can tell. In those days, you couldn't get TV in that area, but we did listen to the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio at night. No running water, no indoor plumbing but they did get electricity in the early 50's.

A Blessed life. Mine too.

A feral cat is something not to be messed with. I read or heard that an animal will not attack another animal for food if there is a good liklihood of sustaining injury. THAT makes a lot of sense to me. Mr. Bunny Rabit is a much safer target.

I've watched wildlife all my life. I learned this as a young man. It's a calculated attack. Various reasons call for various responses. The trick is understanding what's going on in the mind of the animal.

I'd have no fear of a coyote standing alert and looking at me. If it meant me harm I'd never see it coming.

Also understand that the word "pet" doesn't exist in the vocabulary of any creature that is a meat eater.

I'm glad you took a shot at what you perceive to be someone that can't handle their liquor. The fact of the matter is someone like myself, at 6' - 215# would be legally drunk, over 0.08, after just two 9% beers in 30-60 minutes.

Not only that... but if you have any alcohol in your system and someone gets shot you are more likely to get charged with some kind of reckless homicide. Those two 9% beers would make me tipsy as well. I would not drive after two of them so why would I play with firearms?

Wow, glad Clint and John didn't have this attitude. The west would've never been won.

If you enjoy sampling different beer, I suggest Elkhart's First and Oldest Brewpub up in Elkhart. ;)

I was watching the rather interesting Life of Lee Marvin. They don't make actors like that anymore.
