MIg Gun Trigger Guard

Was watching welding a video and caught a glance (long enough to realize what it was) at mig gun the has "trigger guard".... Since I always seem to lay gun down in a way the trigger get depressed and I waste wire (to lazy to drag it back on spool), anybody have a home grown or purchases solution....

I am open to ideas!....

Guards are often a cure worse than the disease.

Wonder about an actual hook so if you hang it over something you don't rely on the trigger as "the hook".

I can’t think of an effective guard. The best I can do is be cognitive of how and where I place the gun when the the welder is energized.

Portable magnetic base. The vertical socket is for the plasma cutter torch...


Most times I hang it like this as it is quick, easy and relatively foolproof.

Only thing I've seen with a guard is Plasma. Likely due to the accidental ear pierce when you do an air check. ?

I like that mag base multi holder... looks 'not homemade', but I'd sure copy it for my own use in a heartbeat!

I have a few of these that are handy on the welding table, on the top of the welding machine, and also I use the TIG torch model:

Everywhere I weld I stick a scrap piece of pipe welded on to table legs welding cart ,gas cart ,anything .6-8 " pipe welded at a 45 perfect holster and it's free':cool2::drink:

Ummm... Do not have welding table (yet?), that is another dream out there a bit... So magnetics are probably out... Probably have to go with pipe/tubing sleeve on welding cart, and get into habit of "holstering" gun at cart....

I recently decided to make a stand for a vice I have had too long, without having built the bench it was supposed to be mounted on.



A simple build, and I had all the material on hand.

But then, I realized I was most of the way to finally having a welding table. :thumbsup:

So, another simple build, with materials on hand.



And, that led to the mig gun holder, which is a ring welded to the welding table.

Bonus, since the welding table is held by the vice, it is height adjustable. :cool2:

Now, I can't think of a reason why I didn't do this sooner.
