ads ads and more ads

After viewing a few posts, I get a screen from McAfee telling me I need to install it. I cannot do anything when it appears so I have to close it using Task Manager. This has happened every day for the last week. It does not happen on any other site. Any idea on how to stop it?

I'm not good with computers. For a few days I had lots of ads on this site that were very annoying, to the point that I was ready to permanently leave when I discovered that I was not logged in. For some reason, the automatic login had failed. After logging in all the irritating ads disappeared.

I wonder if the theory behind this is that a first time visitor is more likely to click through an ad and generate revenue or get disgusted with all the ads and not return...just curious...?

I like how we complain about how a free website is trying to recoup cost and heaven forbid, make some money for their time and effort.

FWIW...
Traffic/eyeballs is the number one criteria for being able to generate revenue through advertising...the top three criteria for generating said traffic is content, content and content...on Internet forums it is the users that create the content...!

I had all kinds of trouble for so long. Then I switched from private browsing mode. No more requests to disable ad blocker. Small ads at top and bottom of TBN pages are far from a nuisance and easily ignored when I'm not shopping for bikinis.

It's interesting that after all those grungily-clad, brat pack 'startups' have 'broken' the internet my stuff still works ok. :D

btw, I prefer ads for products that got their inventors fired and are thus must haves before they're obsoleted in < a year.

FF, Wn 7 Ult for now until making things easy for cel-phones makes using a pc/laptop untenable.

The "blocked" counter starts all over when I go to a new page and I can sit and watch it increment for awhile. Typically, once it gets into the 20's it slows down but keeps incrementing. The worst part is the ads that keep flashing at you or when a new one is displayed that's a different size causing what you're trying to read to jump all over. Makes it impossible to read the thread. When I go to other web sites, the counter will be in the mid-single digits.

I am not adverse to having ads displayed. I've even clicked on some of them and a few, I've even purchased from so I do consider ads a useful part of this forum. However, 2 things: 1) I put much more weight into those products that are discussed in the threads. 2) Those ads that are obnoxious or make it difficult for me to read the thread will get my attention, but not in a good way and I will do what I can to make sure the ad is not displayed again even if it means disabling all ads. Surely there is a way to control how the ads are displayed?

P.S. Whenever i'm on TBN I always make sure I'm logged onto the site. I'm running windows 10 on a Dell G7-17 laptop

I don't know how to do a screen shot, but this is what popped up while on the Trailers and transportation forum a few minutes ago;Snip.png

Have you scanned your system for malware?

To take a screenshot...hit the 'Print Screen' key...then open any image editor (Paint will do) and hit Ctrl + V or Edit and paste...save to wherever...
