Thanks... this afternoon I got busy with the drill press table top. I bought a Woodpecker precision top but the increased table size interferes with the lift handle. Came up with a maybe brilliant solution at least in my mind. I wanted to be able to remove it quickly without threaded fasteners. Built a box that snugly fits over the cast table...



This elevates the surface and allows the crank handle to clear... well sort of... got to make a slight chamfer



My goal was not to hard fasten the box to the existing table, or the woodworking table to the box, so I created hardwood slides allowing me to move the table fore/aft as well as being able to swing it side to side thus utilizing more of the sacrificial inset backing plate.



This cubby hole is begging for a pull out low profile drawer... stay tuned!

The sliding table and sliding fence allow me to set zeros by multiple means. I think I have created a precision drill press table for woodworking that can come off quick simply by lifting it off the existing cast table for metal work.



Still need to do some finishing, maybe edge banding or white paint to match the table top and make a pull out tray I think.

Table saw week here.

I got this Delta contractor saw 25 years ago with unifence and right side extension. At the time it was really more than I could afford, but it has been a wonderful saw and done a heck of a lot of work. Years ago I put it on a mobile base made from 2 2x6's and 6 HF casters. I always used a block of wood to keep it in one place, but this week made a couple of screw lifts that work better. Photo 1.

For a long time I had a Craftsman tool chest on the right side for odds and ends, but shifted that to another use. So this week I made a simple cabinet out of stuff laying around. Full extension heavy duty slides. For my own stuff I just butt the pieces together and fasten with an air stapler and wood glue. I have cabinets made that way 30 years ago and used every day. The original guard/splitter assembly was a nuisance, so I used it without for over 3 decades. No incidents of any kind. But now I guess I am more careful. I made a splitter out of 1/16" mild steel that works perfect. Photo 3. Thinking about making a guard now.

Over the years I've used various outfeed tables and roller stands but decided to make an outfeed extension. Looking for ideas on the web, I found an original new-in-box Delta outfeed kit for sale. For $50 and free shipping. Laying around in a warehouse for a long time I guess. Photo 4, 5, 6.

Same here. I just took Mark off my “help the needy” list.

They are expensive... I don't buy/have any of their other stuff but the table I could resist. I weighed that vs making my own from Rockler or Kreg hardware and decided to splurge on this one since the new drill press deserved it.

I like it! Especially the thumb holes for the sacrificial inset backing plate. I just made a 3" square hole for mine and remove it with the shop vac. But I am going to dig out the forstner bits and make a couple thumb holes on mine.

last year on CL for $40, brand new; owner's Unisaw took a dump before he mounted the extension and he scrapped the whole idea, just wanted the extension out of his basement.

The downside - someday installing it on my PM66 may make it to the top of the project list ... Steve
