PTO Shaft Safety Shield damaged on Victory Flail Mower

That's what happened on the first day. Tell me what I'm doing wrong. Or is it a mover problem.Problem with angle of PTO Shaft?
Too short or too long shaft?
Also mower rises and falls too sharply to 90 degrees.

Looks like it got hung up on the off set pivot point. How much clearance is there? Looks like it is in perfect alignment to get chewed up on the grease zerk, there are other marks on the pivot point that are also in line with the damage.

Are you talking about the 3 point raising and lowering too fast? If so, there is a control knob somewhere around / under the tractor seat to slow it down by turning in or out.

I have the same mower coming tomorrow. Looks like we will need a PTO extension on the tractor to clear the arm. Did the shaft bend or just the shield?

Just shield.
Check and tighten all bolts and nuts!
On the hoses too!

Looks like it got caught up on the pivot point zerk. I suggest - remove the PTO shaft - remove the shield - check to see that the shaft is not damaged. Because of the offset you will likely need a PTO extension for the tractor. This would provide the necessary clearance between the shaft and the pivot point on the flail.

Remember - if you do install a PTO extension - recheck the length of the PTO shaft. It may need to be shortened.

As oosik said an extension is in order. Also the shaft in your picture appears to be too long. The end of the tractor side shield appears long and looks like it will bind if the head was directly behind the tractor and you raised the 3pt hitch.

I definitely will check all bolts and hoses. Welcome to TBN by the way!

PTO shaft has a lot of space.
No, I'm talking about a hydraulic cylinder. It moves too fast.

I had PTO clearance issues on my VanWamel Ditch Bank Mower too. But the JD6200 always seemed to have a weird location of the PTO. Ended up plasma cutting a notch out of the mower frame.
