Not going to post my photo!

This afternoon I listed an office chair for free, in good condition. It looked good but the design should have never been sold, it gave me backaches.

This was at my home in town, not at the orchard.

I don't want anyone here I can't identify. I said send your phone #, I'll call you with directions. My CL post just had the major intersection a few blocks away. Call, because I learn more in a conversation than texting would convey. I put the chair at the curb with a Free note.

Four replies in a couple of hours, all wanted to negotiate holding it until some later date to pick it up. No. If the ad's still up then call when you are ready to come over.

9:15 pm we hear noise outside, somebody is rolling the chair down the street. Two blue taillights a foot apart and a few inches off the ground, no other lighting, silent. WTF was that??? Motor wheelchair? A neighbor must have seen Free on it because the CL post hadn't named my street etc.

Anyhow, mission accomplished, the chair is gone. Another Craigslist stranger-than-life adventure.

You have to wonder if Craigslist makes up these absurd listings, to teach users to think critically.

The awkward wording and unrealistic prices are intentional. The scammer doesn't want to waste time with people who will figure out that it's not legitimate. They only want replies from gullible people.

OK,
I once spotted an obvious scam and contacted authorities.
I was shuffled from one authority to the next.
Heii one authority said , 'call back Monday AM as we are cloased'
Ended up with phone busters that informed me that they had no budget to pursue those scams.
That was 4 a $4000. scam!

Craigslist is full of scams here in the USA, as I am sure Kijiji is in Canada.

I never thought of it that way, but what you suggest does seem to make sense.
I have played with a few of the scammers in the past, just for fun.
