Is it just me or does that metal look a bit off? More like pot metal that something solid.

Just typical cast iron break.

Is that pin just supported on the ear that broke or it also gets supported from the main rear casting?

The rear and seems to be built up from layers of castings bolted together. The pin was only supported by the part that broke, near as I can tell.

If that's the only support for a pin that has to handle so many forces in so many different directions, that kinda a bad design from MF. That's a failure waiting to happen.

That pin needs to be supported on both ends with the lift arm in the middle.

From the design, so obvious in your photo, I think you are absolutely correct!
You very likely...... "can look forward to it breaking again".

The dealer is going to fix it. No time table yet so I'm going to do what I can without it for now.
