Backhoe Bucket Grader Blade

The simple version of this is a length of railroad rail or a structural beam grabbed between the teeth and thumb.

6' piece of 8" I-beam is what I use

Reviving an old thread, this is real interesting. I'm knocking this idea around in my head, but adding raking teeth as well. I think a ratchet strap instead of a chain would work pretty good, keeping it snug on the teeth.

Thanks GeneV. I like the chain, as it has some slack so the blade will angle a little to follow a slight slope.

There is already an attachment out there, called the ratchet rake, to fit onto your loader bucket edge. It has numerous teeth and is retained by a ratchets.

Check it out. You might be able to modify one to fit your backhoe bucket.

Ok, I could see that, allowing some play for slope changes, smart!

I actually have the ratchet rake, and was in fact debating cutting it down for a backhoe contraption. But, it's useful for me as is for the loader, would hate to loose it's current function. I'm keeping an eye out on craiglist and fb marketplace.

That will work just nicely.

Oops. I forgot to add the painted, finished, product. It's been raining every weekend, so I have not been out to put dirt on the paint yet. View attachment 339216View attachment 339217View attachment 339218

Hey Brandi, I put this together yesterday, it worked great!

I too, built a wooden working mockup. It worked great until I turned too close to a tree and made it a broken stub.
hugs, Brandi

Like this? IMG_20200705_170806.jpg

Exactly what happened to me and it STILL worked good enough to finish the job.
