It's shameful enough that some are posted. LOL.

Highlight how? dragoneggs.
Don't know the mechanism and if possible but I envision the Mods could 'shade' the offending post in red or something and keep the thread alive unless it gets totally out of hand.

Problem with attempted public shaming is some will take it as a badge of honor and anyway it becomes yet another distraction. Let the 10 strikes process operate quietly in the background.

Yeah probably right but it would be kinda nice to know exactly what 'set off' the Mod. Might help some understand where is the line.

Sincerely doubt it. Go over to the tractor buying thread, Kubota vs Kioti, totally out of control. And... they haven't even got to politics, yet.

Found it... had to chuckle about your 'willie' comment.

I never made any grades but "A" in English classes (had an excellent English teacher in high school), had an English professor in college who tried to talk me into being an English major, and I think I hated every minute of every English class throughout my school years. And then when I retired from the police department I was commander of the Planning & Research Division; spent a lot of time proof reading what my employees had written.

But I also learned to have someone else proof read everything I wrote, because errors are easily made, and we tend to not notice them in our own writing (or posting).

Dang Bird, you don't post much. Glad to see you are still on this side of the dirt....

In real life, I am VERY political. But when I go on TBN, I don't want to read anything about politics. And I don't want to know about anyone's politics on TBN.

Yeah. Now try to imagine how those of us who don't care for politics feel. Both parties are equally corrupt, the Republicans keep moving further and further to the right, & the Democrats keep moving to the left. The few moderates get attacked by both. I dislike both equally.

This is a perception issue, there is no inflection or body language perceived, the words are taken at face value. Picture yourself sitting around a campfire at the deer lease while reading the replies or comments, helps to picture one of your close friends making the statement, because you have given them a little more leeway because they are your friends.

Sometimes, I have to unplug from the media, both sides, Facebook, Twitter and even texting. Now would be a good time to go get some seat time and unplug/uncork and the replies, good, bad or otherwise, will seem a little less worrisome.

Very true, and as noted upthread it seems that everybody seems to be p/o'ed these days, and refuse to budge from often extreme positions on the issues, or even listen to those who don't share their views. Bad enough dealing with that in person where, as you noted you can observe body language, let alone online.

Most, if not all of us have strongly held opinions on certain subjects, the key is to be respectful of others. Sadly there are a few who just don't get it.

I find with any thread on any forum I follow (not just TBN) after about 2 pages, everything of value has been said and I no longer follow it. So, my suggestion is allow users to hide threads they don't want coming up time and time again to have to ignore or scroll by.

That's all well and good, but as someone else noted thread drift can sometimes lead in interesting directions, or the thread returns to the original topic. I'd hate to put something on "ignore" and miss out on something interesting.
