Why was BX23 production only one year ?

I’m looking at a BX23 now, 1400 hrs.

Wouldn’t start just clicking, like fuel pump running but wont turn over.

Sounds like low battery?

Another common no start is position of safety switches... one is treadle pedal not in neutral position and another is selector not in neutral.

There are also seat sensors...

Sensors are my bane... I eventually disconnected most of mine and when it came time to sell, it took awhile to figure out what I had done to override them. New owner wanted the tractor working per the manual. I obliged and then I needed to replace a couple that went bad. No big deal but they haven't saved me once but they sure have slowed me down!

Wasn’t battery, I put a jump starter on it. Did kick the pedal around. But not the pto. Seat was bypassed I noticed.

Sounds like the starter solenoid to me. Is that what is clicking? A sharp loud click? If so, you can bypass it with a set of jumper cables directeto the starte jrust to see if the starter will crank over. But if so, don't crank it too long with the key in the running position or it may start. And when it does, the price goes way up since it is pretty obvious what it is.
If you are a decent mechanic or have a buddy who is, a BX23 in good overall condition but not starting could be a real find.

I believe the noise was the fuel pump. I think it’s just a sensor keeping it from starting. I have dibs on it, so will check it again some weekend.

Someone in another thread posted a link to Messicks bx23 wiring diagram, so will take that and a meter next time I try.

Production of the BX23 ran 2 yrs, 2004 - 2006. Kubota Tractor Corporation - Prior Product - BXSeries
There is always model overlap where both the old and new models can be purchased brand new.

The later model BX22's (made in 2004) changed over to the version of the LA211 FEL where the valve stayed w/the tractor. Basically, it's not unusual to run across 2 BX22's with differing FEL setups.

Known issues w/the BX23 are known and minor, they include:
1) air filter bracket band breaks. I recently had to swap mine for the 1st time at approx 560 hrs, cost $10. Excessive low idling may be the cause....

2) leaking fuel around the fuel sender. I've never had this problem on my BX23 (knock on wood), but Kubota has a repair kit available for approx $15 should it be required.

Thats it. Kubota's 1st BX TLB was the BX22 and was very good, they incororated the best of the BX22 & got it right w/the BX23, went alittle too radical w/the BX24 then incorporated the best of the BX23 & BX24 in the new and improved BX25.

A well maintained BX23 will give you 1000's of service hrs.

Dave

I bought my first and only Kubota BX23 in 2004. I still have it with 760 hours on. After 2 of the air filter bands breaking I made one of my own with a strong spring around the filter instead of the metal one used. I glued a piece of floor mat rubber on the underside of the hood where the spring hits. Has been reliable for about 100 hours so far. I love this tractor and use it for all types of yard work that I couldn't possibly do anymore with just my body.
I maintain it myself and only had new detents (I think they are called) replaced for the front loader stick control at 500 hours. I made 2x6 boards to bolt onto the stabilizers as the metal sinks into my ground too much when wet and it displaces the weight very well. This tractor fits into small places around my house that a larger one would not. All in all I give it a 100% rating. It is nothing but fun to use and I look forward every time I climb on. Pochie

Nothing bad to say about my BX 23...

Interesting about detents... I noticed not as strong now.
