The Laws Of Nature According to TBN

I save all sorts of stuff that I save "in case I ever need it", and when I finally do need it, I can't find it. The day after I buy a new one, the old thing I was saving reappears. Never fails.

I thought that was "Murphy's Law", but it's obviously superseded by "The Laws Of Nature According to TBN ".

After I couldn't find the part to my lamp, spending an hour at least looking, I decided to reballast the fixture above the kitchen sink. "I have ballasts" after all. Eight trips to the barn later and three NEW (In storage) electronics ballasts tried wired into the fixture and finally it works! THAT WAS EASY! On a side note, I don't understand why electronic T8-12 tube ballasts have gone from six wires driving the tubes down to two! One common, each end.

It seems we are talking about Resistentialism.

I threw the last of my ballasts away when I switched to LED direct drive tubes in the fixtures. They require no ballasts, no ballasts to fail, no ballasts to hum, no ballast to make heat and waste energy. Good by fluorescent tubes. I won't miss ye. More light, much less energy. A good move forward.

+1. Did the entire machine shop in LED's. Did both my tractors in LED's and the headlights in LED as well. I like SuperBright LED myself. Like to specify what SMD's I'm getting and I prefer CREE SMD's.

I wasn't up to spending $150.00 on a LED cloud fixture, only to have the whole thing fail in a few short years. As far as I might go is a T8 fixture with retrofit LED tubes.

If LED fixtures last so long, then let them unconditionally warranty them for that long plus allowance made for labour and repainting if the new fixture doesn't match the profile of the old. Until then, sorry, but I wasn't born yesterday.

Who said anything about replacing the fixtures? I just threw away the ballasts , checked and made sure the tombstones weren't shorted out, and plugged in the LED tubes in place of the fluorescent tubes. No repainting, no replacing of fixtures. No worries. I am busy enjoying the money savings, the fact they come on in the garage when it is freezing cold, and the extra light. I don't see any downside. OH, on top of that they don't make any RFI either.

Yes, that's it! Why is it when I am moving a rope, extension cord, strap, hose, whatever... it will inevitably hook on every last possible catch instead of coming merrily along without issue... but if I was trying to snag something on purpose, I couldn't do it to save my life! :confused3:

When I was a welder the old joke was, You could jump out of an airplane with your welding leads and never hit the ground because they would hang up on something before you got there.
