My partner and I have bought and restored several Idealarc 250 welders. Many times we pull the sheet metal to find decades of dust bunnies, dirt daubers and grime. After we blow as much out as possible we use a pressure washer and Mean Green cleaner to get the final layer of grime off. After they dry for a few days we lubricate what is necessary and they work fine. I wouldn’t recommend leaving them out in the weather for years but I’m sure many have and are still working. Anything short of a direct lightning strike and your good to go

Have U noticed the race for the most $$$ hammers?
LOL, 20 oz titanium hammer? @ $150' ???
I always thought 20 oz was 20 no matter what it was made from.
Heck does the nail know the difference as to what hit it?

AND hanging from your tool belt is the 20 oz titanium feel lighter?

Since Titanium is lighter than aluminum, how big would a 20 oz. hammer be if made from Titanium? Very big!! Too big to be of any use driving a nail.

Um... Titanium is considerably heavier than Aluminum.

Aluminum 168.48 lbs per cubic foot
Titanium 283.39 lbs per cubic foot
Steel rolled 490.0 lbs per cubic foot.

While I think using titanium for hammers is pretty ridiculous, There must be some reason it is being done.


Thinking about this, maybe you meant to say "since titanium is lighter than steel" Of course hammers (at least the faces) are made out of steel not Aluminum. some might have an aluminum handle, or fiberglass etc. But I don't know of any framing hammers with aluminum faces. I have seen plenty of brass and plastic and some aluminum faced hammers for precise light work like gun smithing, but not nail driving.

That vibration thing probably explains why them fellows in funny costumes who chase little round balls all over pastures for hours got them titanium golfball hammers. Lot of them boys look pretty sensitive to my eye.

Cousin who just sided my house used a 10 oz titanium claw hammer, said it cost him $125.

I suggested putting flex tape or similar around the mid-handle so he could hold it in his teeth.

I didn't try it out. My hammering makes my welding look good. My golfing is worse than either.
