Anyone else love tools like I do?

I have a Kentucky fried Chicken bucket full of sockets American and Metric. Now with all those sockets I searched and searched and could not find a 16mm socket. My dear wife went out and bout me a 16mm socket for Father's day.

16mm is close enough to 5/8 for me if needed.

That said, I'm generally too OCD with tools to be missing sockets, so I feel your pain!

Those wheels are getting smaller and cheaper. I don't need one, but they are definitely fun to play with.

Agree, I did get a chance to try my hand.

BUT, I did have a metal 'shrinker and stretcher' and that was cool to use, I made custom brass trim for a client that had a Gruman flying boat that he wanted to use as a camper. We also made him custom seats from foam blocks that converted to wall to wall bedding.
One heck of a project. That project included total avionics upgrade as well as the 'hobby camper' conversion. LOL, he liked fishing in remote areas.
That was besides a total updating of his Ted Smith Aerostar.

And , Bindian, I also did tons of Chopper mods and even had a few STC's for Astars.
Back then I had 2 4 drawer filing cabinets full of mod files.
My most challenging was long range fueling for trans Atlantic ferry flights. (all with DOT/FAA approvals), probably did 35-40 of them.

To think. The man was "probably" born into this world with NOTHING! AMAZING what we NEED! lol

I do feel fortunate though. Better Tools than, toys, collectables, hobby and recreational stuff.

AGREED !!!!

Did you ever do any Mooney Atlantic ferry conversions?

I used to restore old cars and build custom cars in a previous life. My shop is still full of metal shaping tools along with a Bridgeport mill and A/C lathe. You never know when they'll be needed again. :p

Astars...you can have them. I have done mods to fly Bell 212s from Conroe Texas across the Gulf of Mexico and added cabin fuel cells to get DC-9s to Hawaii, but never anything for the Atlantic. We worked a custom DC-9 (used to be the Playboy bunny plane) that had the aft cargo compartment all long range fuel cells. It could fly from Dallas to Zurich non stop. It was Southmark corporations. As in 7-11 drive ins. Last I saw of it, it was flying the Seattle Seahawks owner around.

I do remember a Mooney in the shop (1st aviation job) that got a transfer pump and a 55 gallon barrel stuffed into her back seat. Not sure where she went, as I didn't get to work on her.

SWA had my (and 6 coworkers) retirement barbeque Monday night. Gave the homemade door handle tool to a younger coworker. Guess I pasted the torch.

Now I got to bring the taco wagon home and re organize all home and work tools into some sort of organization.
