That doesn't compute! :confused3:

When we end the hot summer day in the house we want to be cool.

When we end the cold winter day in the house we want to be warm.

Why else would we have climate control in the house?

Gotcha... I guess I didn't realize you could have your heat setting warmer than the cool. Never given it much thought.

Awww,, gotcha.

We never leave our system on auto. We select heat or cool. This choice is based on advice from our installer.

If you choose to set your system on auto, you'll have the same temp for both.

Our heat set to 62 (summer), 66 (winter)... A/C 78. Augment with a gas fireplace in the living room.

My heat is set to "Outside Temp" in summer and 50 in winter... augmented by my wood stove.

I don't believe that's true, at least not with all thermostats. Our new system came with a Nest, smart thermostat. It specifically calls for different temperatures between the heating and cooling cycles. I believe my previous one (non-Nest) also called for different temperatures.

It should NOT be up to the tStat or the company that makes them to determine any of the setting ranges. That should be determined ONLY by the end user and the equipment they have installed.
