What else do you do with forks besides lift pallets?

Here is another lift sling application I used with forks the other day.

Two slings lifting a 5500 pound shear with forks

I used mine to raise my 60 gallon air compressor off the pallet and into place so it could be bolted down to the floor.

I have a project but not sure how to go about it. I have a 24" diameter x 24" long section of reinforced concrete pipe that I want to put over my well pipe to keep anyone from driving into it. It weighs 500 lbs. How can I do this the right way with forks?

My plan was to just stand it on end and set it over the well pipe sticking out of the ground but there's a risk I could drop it on the pipe. A construction guy told me they use some sort of strap thing and it just picks the pipe up and sets it where you want it. I can't find the guy that told me this and have no idea what he's taking about.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to go about getting the 500lb piece of concrete pipe over my well head safely?

This over your well head will not be a problem for a real well man. It is wide enough to get the cap off for pump troubleshooting and if the pump has to come out then either you or he can move it out of the way. A good pump man is not helpless.

Wasn’t a fan of the hole in the end of the fork method so I welded a receiver to mine. Works great, and keeps the weight closer to the pivot for the heavy trailers.

Yep, very handy:

Been meaning to post this for a while now. It's kind of a variation on Cat_Driver's use-as-a-table.

Should have taken a picture but sawed a heavy 10' log into manageable portions by lifting on the forks, sawing the overhang off on each side and then sawing in the middle between the forks. Easy to do, solved my problem and kept the saw out of the dirt.

I use my forks to lift my PullRite 5th wheel hitch out of the bed of my truck. Really handy, considering the hitch weighs much more than I can lift myself.

Has anyone mentioned cow tipping yet?
[just asking]

Not that I've seen... however I don't think that moving dead livestock has been mentioned.

When I had to have my horse 'Jack' put down, I used my forks to gently place him into the grave that a neighbour (with an excavator) had dug.

Make burn piles.

This 700(?) lb rock has to go in a guy's trailer and the best way is to just pick it up and put it where he wants it. Forks are perfect for loading things. Normally, I would put the rock on a pallet and load that way but don't have one at the moment. Rock is all loaded and ready to go so when he gets here it's a quick job.

Tore out a deck saturday, forks made it easy to cut large portions out and move with the tractor.

4 people and we completely finished a 24 x 48 deck, loaded onto a trailer and moved within a 7 hour workday.20201003_114030.jpg

Or moving the outhouse a couple feet back?

You only move the outhouse FORWARD. Never back!

Makes momma madder than a wet hen to step in that pit on a nightly trip out to the outhouse.

We just moved the seat to the other side when the poopsicles got to tall. Also, by being old, we didn't have styrofoam to keep our tushes warm on those cold outhouse runs.

That was the whole idea!
