Great! 1" hole should be large enough for a slip hook, I would think?

One inch would definitely accommodate a shackle pin or a trailer hitch ball.
I bought heavy duty 4' forks and I wish they would have come with holes in the ends for chain hooks. Not sure how hard they will be to drill. I would imagine they are hardened steel.

I needed a hole in a fork tip, used a hole saw in the drill press. Easy cutting and a nice clean hole.
Try an annular cutter in a drill press at a proper speed and some good quality cutting oil like Tap Magic. Should be a piece of cake.Wow! You must have a lot better hole saws than I do. Mine barely cut wood.

Just brought a modified pallet to my 85+ old (he is not sure of his age) next door neighbor to put under his giant pumpkin. He wants to enter it in our 1st annual local contest on Halloween. First time for him growing and I think he instigated the contest. I love this guy!
Apparently I'm now part owner as he is depending on me for transport.
Good Luck. You may need a larger tractor. There’s a new Alaska state record for giant pumpkins | The Star

They are "lift slings": forklift pipe lifting slings - Image Search--------------------------------------------------------------
A construction guy told me they use some sort of strap thing and it just picks the pipe up and sets it where you want it. I can't find the guy that told me this and have no idea what he's taking about.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to go about getting the 500lb piece of concrete pipe over my well head safely?
