Thanks guys! I'm gonna change that flexible duct to rigid, I don't think it's air tight enough currently. Also, I'm gonna put a hood on the end of it to catch more fumes.

Ok well thanks for the inspiration. My fume extractor just jumped a few spots on the to do list. Last time I plasma cut in my shop, my A/C drain line got full of rusty water. Made me think about what I'm breathing. Been cutting & welding outside since. Tired of that. And the solution is apparently very easy and cheap. Thanks!

Looks like it works decently. Would be nice to get it a bit closer to your work. I also see you can't swing it around, which would be handy, but the flex duct can make up for some of that. Nice work!

And unless you enjoy sunburn, I'd get some long sleeves...

Yeh if I was welding-welding I'd wear sleeves, this was just running a bead right fast to test out the fan. Been there / done that with the arc sunburn, yup.

I got a hood now. Built it with 2 reducers, 10" to 8" and 8" to 6". I welded for a few hrs today, just messing around, practicing.
Extractor worked great!

Gene, can you position the 'hood' around a bit? And does it stay put?
