I guess I am lucky. We have quite a bit of National Forest around our area but it isn't a sightseer type of forest. Just natural bush with no walking tracks or anything to encourage hikers. They burn a bit of it every few years and get the locals ire up. They haven't got a clue how to do it properly and give no consideration to the Koalas that live around here. We even have a rare breed of Koala that is almost white like a albino but it makes no difference to them. Just light her up mate. She'll be right. There was a large wooden National Park sign not far from here and somebody systematically destroyed it a few years ago. They never fixed it. Maybe they got the message.

I try to be considerate of wherever I am. I do not have National Forest lands around me. I treat private areas just like I would National areas. I've had people make comments about how cool it would be to chase Deer or Coyotes with a Drone. I never do that. I try to think about the times I've been in National Parks. How my memory of those experiences might be different if Drones were buzzing around.

I would really enjoy visiting Australia. Not the cities. The Outback areas. My only experience with a Koala has been in a zoo. Which absolutely doesn't count....

I am not anti drone but I also do not want to hear them buzzing over my head while touring Yellowstone

Responsible pilots are one thing but we all know what would happen if the laws were nonexistent

I agree.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have Koalas around the house. They come and go all the time. We had one who lived in a tree beside the house for many months but sadly one day I found him at the bottom of the tree very sick. We called the Koala hospital and they came and got him but he died before they got to the vet. He was holding my wifes hand and just looking at her while we waited. He knew we were helping him.
We have 3 more regulars at present. Papa, mama and a young one who has just gone independent recently.

Like anything else, the more people get them, the more idiots there are, the more stringent the regulations get. It's a slippery slope.

I see B&H has the Fimi on sale for 499 US.

I can't hear my drone except for take off and landing. As long as one flies a decent height, noise should not be an issue.

Had a pilot error. Roof got in the way

Glad I bought the insurance

That's a sickening picture in the morning.
I'm going to hug my prop gaurds.

Chances are prop guards aren't going to save you from that.

That is basically JUNK. Pilot error 100%. No crash avoidance?

Easy Daryl.

That's easily repaired. Pilor errors will occur if you make technical flights. It's inevitable. I think that Drone has avoidance cameras but can't verify that.

I've realized to get in the positions I want to get in I have to override the avoidance or ignore it. Mine starts warning me at a distance of 30ft. I fly much closer to things than that.

Only ground avoidance sensors on the mini. You are free to slam into whatever you want with that drone

Being my first drone I thought that the DJI refresh insurance was a good idea. DJI says I'll have a new one in 7 days. Cost is $65

I don't Richard. being retired and on a somewhat fixed income, I don't need to wipe out a 1500 buck aircraft. I've trimmed some leaves with my DJI in the past however. I say somewhat fixed, my income depends on how the farm does and this year was a bust.

That's awesome. I need to see if Autel offers anything like that!!! I tore the gimbal off my X Star a few years ago. Cost me $400 to get it replaced.

I have learned to accept it as the expense of the hobby. I don't go looking for trouble, but accept it when it happens.

The E2 seems to offer very good warning of obstacles in all directions. Blaring sound alarm along with warnings on the viewer screen showing direction of the obstacle and distance. What testing I've done so far it seems to be very effective and can detect small obstacles. I've got an old power pole in the yard with a crossbar that I use for a Purple Martin nest holder. It sees it and warns me. I'll do some more testing around trees to get an idea of how effective it is with them. That's what I'm around most. I would like to also test to see if it will avoid a moving obstacle coming toward it. Such as a tractor or combine.

Same for my 77 yo friend that bought one... although, for me, it was so LOUD, I could tell where it was even if it was (slightly) out of sight.
Hmmm... yeah I don't hear certain frequencies well. Ask my wife and daughter.

Ouch... poor mini. Glad to hear you have that protection. I have a lot of trees around my place and I am almost too careful to not do some unintended pruning. As such, it doesn't make for the most graceful video clips.
