The purpose isn't to keep the signs from getting stolen though. It's to give them a challenge and make stealing them more interesting. ;)

I used theft-proof nuts and bolts and after installation I cut the protruding ends of the bolts off with a bolt cutter that left ragged ends on the bolts the I smashed the remaining threads with a hammer and chisel. Of course that doesn't stop them from using a battery powered grinder from cutting off the post.

There sort of a way of life where I grew up; Anything ain't nailed down is Cajun property, even more if it floatin downriver.
Anything moveable wid a Coonazz key ain't nailed down.

I pop dat post in under 2 minutes wid a farmjack.
County here uses square indexing sign posts wid a Huck rivet cause kids figured out tamper proof bolts. County guys can milk install for a couple hours. Kids can uninstall in under 5 minutes.

Sounds like a large city with looting going on:laughing:

On that note, sincere question on the OP's thread... Who are stealing the signs, good old country folk raised the right way or is it just those no good city slickers visiting the country side looking to roam the woods vandalizing and steeling what isn't thiers?

Not hardly. Read any of my posts about "no good city people" moving into the country, you'll see I generally respond that people are people no matter where you live. Includes smart, dumb, hard working, lazy, those with a set or morals and those with a lack morals.

I've come to this conclusion as well with talking with who I consider a good "old boy" farmer local friend who is slightly younger than myself. Biggest compliment he gave me was "you sure you're a Yankee, you don't seem to bad" He's told me on more than one occasion that we have a lot of "local no good people" in the area.

I know, but still...

I remember hearing about an "outsider" who had been living in a coastal town for years. He was talking to a native one day and asked why he was still considered from "away". "We-ll", the old timer says, because you came from that Boston-town." The outsider then asked "But my kids were born here, surely you must consider them local?"
The old timer replied "If your cat has kittens in the oven, does that mean they are biscuits?" :D

I know what you mean though. It isn't that transplants are completely unwelcome; it's just that so many move into an area, then try to turn it into what they moved here to get away from.
