Not me, just something that I read.

I don't feel nearly as bad as the people I heard about the drove off with the dog tied to their bumber.

That comment So reminded me of National Lampoon Vacation... Nat Lamp.jpg

A first responder friend told me that many people make the mistake, (including me) of dropping their phone in the console or dash when in the car instead of in their pocket and then after an accident, it is nowhere to be found when they need it.

It can sometimes be cumbersome, but I always have my phone on me. I was up on my new shed roof sealing cracks this summer, it a very calm day so I skipped securing the ladder. A single random gust of wind and the ladder was gone. Regretted not securing the ladder but at least I wasn't stuck up there till dinner, which is likely when my wife would come looking for me if. I'm old and I would not have jumped off for fear of breaking something.

Somewhere around age 40 I realized I really did not like heights anymore. That awkward transition from ladder to roof confirmed it. Upside, it is a reason to buy a nice drone.

Just an FYI, you may not even need your normal smartypants phone if it's too big for yer britches. Most phones will be able to dial 911 even if they don't have a current service plan. So, if you have, or can buy a simple flip phone, that may be an option to carry for those Tim Taylor moments.

I have about one visitor every three months, out here. However, since my 50 year shingles were installed 17 years ago - I've had no reason to go up on the roof.

I've never thought about taking my cell phone with me when I travel out on my property. Good idea - I will start doing just that.

At our age (I know you are a bit younger) we should carry cell phones all the time.

I try to tell my wife this. Even when you're going into the basement, even when I am in the house. My basement is pretty much sound proofed, my daughter used to practice with her band down there and I could barely hear them. She could be down there yelling for hours without anyone noticing. But she does not listen so that if she's down there for more than 5 minutes I'm down the stairs to find out why.

About 10 years ago my then 85 year old Dad got his first cell phone. My mom insisted he carry it when he was on the tractor but she claimed it did not work since he rarely answered it. So I asked him about it and he gave me his crooked sly grin and said; The tractor is my quiet time.

They were married for almost 67 years and he sure deserved some. :D
