I think you maybe happy that you have a fairly flat roof pitch laying like that in the last picture. You would not catch me up there like that. Everything looks great. Jon

Thanks. it's pretty flat, I can comfortably walk. But I really don't have a problem on 5:12 pitch roofs either though. At least I can set things down without them wanting to roll away.

Particularly at 2 stories up! Yikes! Heck of a fall....

That said, looking good structure!

I was on a 5:12 metal roof recently and the morning dew made it too dangerous to be up there. 4:12 never gives me any issues, but steeper then that and I need a rope or something to hold on to when my feet start to slide.

Last week a friend of mine was on his 2:12 pitch metal roof with a pole saw, trimming some branches that where leaning over his house. He set the saw down and it started to slide off, so he reached for it, and he slid off of the roof, landing on his feet, shattering one of his heals. He thinks that me might of stepped on some leaves, which caused him to lose traction, but he doesn't really know what happened.

Metal roofs have a way of surprising you.

As you get older, you don't bounce as good.

I should have specified, shingle roofs are fine up to 5:12 for me. My father just got a metal roof on his garage and i had to go up there to adjust his weather station. I wasan't crazy about it, and it was a 4:12 roof. That's really the only metal roof i've been on though. Definitely glad he doesn't go up himself as it's 2 story and he's not the most stable on flat ground these days, let alone a roof.

A relative of my wife's was on his low-pitch metal pole barn roof and slipped. He fell 12' and broke his back. Fortunately, he lived, but is still feeling it's effects 5 years later.

Finished the roof and got the ice and water shield rolls up there. They were heavy. Passed all that plywood up, marked it, nailed it, added some scaffolding to the top so we could get up and down since it's not accessible from the second floor anymore.

And I'm exhausted.

Tomorrow is putting the ice and water shield down and start tyvek. Garage door guy is coming tomorrow finally, the last guy showed up empty handed. No paperwork, no books, no nothing. Told him what I wanted and he went off, and I never heard from him again.

Nice progress.

Do you have regular conversations with your neighbors? As in do they know what you are building? If not, I'll bet they are saying what the H is going on over there? :D

Looking good but I'm not climbing scaffolding or walk around with just boat shoes on!
