thanks.

What do the bolts look like? With the starter wiggling do I already have the threads backed out enough to tap the starter away or do I have to keep turning?

I'm working blind here so your help is appreciated

There are just two long bolts. (Didn’t measure but maybe 5 inches long?)

In the photo you can see how the grime outlines the flange of the starter. I have removed the lower bolt in this picture and you can see the threads of the upper bolt.

These bolts extend all the way through to where the brake pedal is. So you will need to hold the head of the bolt while you unscrew the nut. Tap the lower bolt out after you have removed the nut. Use a hammer and a piece of wood to protect the bolt. Once that bolt is free, the starter will come out easily.

$%^&*(!

Went to start it today, slow whirring noises and smoke/heat from the starter.

Fan turning slowly.

Did my new starter go bad already?
