New garage time!

I have went, in the past, as far as throwing a rope over the top and pulling a ladder up to lay on the roof. Tie off the rope and ladder and work from ladder and move it over as I go. Slow but safer. I have some 6/12 and 7/12 sections, but the porch is 4/12. All shingled.

Most of my house is 10/12. I have roof jacks I used when shingling. Some is 4/12, that’s nothing with shingles. But last time I had hail damage Insurance paid for others to replace it all.

Ice and water shield on. Cleaned up the second floor a bit and put the lights up. Had a tricky time getting the wires up over a big gaping hole, but I found something that worked.

Tomorrow, going to cut and install the lateral bracing between the studs, and do a good bit of cleanup. Need to pick up the man doors and get them in. Garage door guy came today, $2900 installed for both, lead time 3 weeks.

Metal roof quote came in, $5500 for roof and all the trim. 7-10 day lead time. We should be finished by december.

I looked at buying a house with a metal roof once and noticed it had tie off points all over it. I made a note to myself to never install a metal roof in our wet marine climate. I do have a metal roof on my shop (there when I bought it) but it is a slight slope and I took trees down around it to limit the debris needing to be cleaned off.

More fence. This time with the 8" auger and the 21" extension. That thing kicked the crap out of me. I actually had to take a break half way through the hole because my hands were cramping up from trying to hold onto it.

Going to wait on the gate until I get the roof and siding so I don't have to do any disassembling. I'm going to ask them to crane the roof up onto the roof, it'll make life a lot easier.

And to think he ran his fence right up to his neighbor's building and built his monolith while the neighbor was gone north for the summer!!!!! Jon

Tyvek started, first row was not bad. Second is a challenge. 3rd I'm not sure I want to think about yet.

Made a tyvek on a stick using a foot from scaffolding bolted to a 2x6. It's fairly unstable but it gets the job done.

It's such a mundane task. And such an important task. Your pics show you the value of Tyvek. Hang in there. Do it right.
