The best I ever used many years ago was a Golden Rod Stretcher. I just checked and they are still available at Ace and other places for $35 to $40.
I make my end caps out of concrete and set them with a backhoe

I've thought about doing that. Seems like I see a lot of them still standing in perfect condition on TV shows about WW2. Makes me wonder how they where built, and why couldn't I do the same thing?

I was hoping to get some guidance on how much to stretch barbed wire or a way to gauge when it was stretched enough from your video. Sorry but "stretch it until just before it breaks" is not helpful
