Stretching Barbed Wire

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken. :)

I'm right 98% of the time...I don't care about the other 3%.

I hate working with four-point barbed wire. It takes too long to get each set of barbs exactly horizontal and vertical.

The best I ever used many years ago was a Golden Rod Stretcher. I just checked and they are still available at Ace and other places for $35 to $40.

I make my end caps out of concrete and set them with a backhoe

Just in time for fencing season too. :cool2:

btw, Guys, when anyone asks for my 'Christmas list' I'll just be texting product links this year anyway. (PM me to register)

And I sure need help. Last Summer I built a 6' high 7-wire fence for that neighbor lady but somebody helped her get out the next day. :(

Happy Thanksgiving!

I've thought about doing that. Seems like I see a lot of them still standing in perfect condition on TV shows about WW2. Makes me wonder how they where built, and why couldn't I do the same thing?

I make mine at about $30 each, including 4 sticks of rebar. I do X-brace with wire using the two tubes on each post. It is a lot of work, but it is a one and done. Got tired of replacing wood posts. Barbed wire is tightened into the grooves which holds it from sliding.

Enjoyed your video. I've stretched a little (very little)barbed wire in my time. I was hoping to get some guidance on how much to stretch barbed wire or a way to gauge when it was stretched enough from your video. Sorry but "stretch it until just before it breaks" is not helpful:)

My thought exactly but that kind of drivel is increasingly common here every day. Totally worthless.
