They call it Tulip tree down here...

I have both poplar and I have a giant tulip poplar, different trees. The tulip poplar has these beautiful white flowers and a very distinct leaf, the other poplar doesn't have flowers and doesn't get all too big before it either dies off, snaps in half, or gets blown over due to it not being a strong wood at all. It works well for interior trim wood since it's light and takes paint reasonably well. Some say it takes stain well too, but most pieces have that greenish color with spots of almost black so I don't see why you'd want to try staining it.

Haven't been around much lately my family surprised me and my daughters showed up for my 65th birthday last week! Yay!! They spent most of the week so I've not been doing any cutting lately. My wife bought me a drone so I've been playing with that. Got a U-tube account set up and made my first video, just gives you an Idea of where I live. First one, very amateurish but here you go. Yes, poplar makes good interior trim, I dealt with that LONG before I started on the trees themselves.

What is the bark used for ??

Tulip poplar bark is used to make both interior paneling and exterior siding panels...
It has to be harvested when it can be removed from the logs in large sections...usually in June/July...it is not an easy process...it also has to be kept flat and dried (it tends to roll up)...

That's interesting. So it will hold a nail or is it glue-on paneling/siding. I've never heard of bark being used that way but I can picture the textured effect it would produce.

Most of the products I've seen have the bark section adhered to substrate panels that have interlocking edges...
Google "poplar bark siding" for more info...
