3 pt Log Splitter

I still disagree about damaging a valve by reverse flow. Maybe you are confusing it with a semiconductor circuit given reverse polarity. lol

Also, I'm sure there is a big difference between trying it at low rpm to determine if it's right, to trying to use the thing with reverse flow. Common sense is so rare nowadays.
I think you are right...

Anyone who has ever hooked up to remotes, has reversed them a time or two without problems...

M y cousin has an old 3 PH splitter that he ironically bought from my dad years ago. I use it every year to split oak wood for barbequing. I really like that splitter and have looked at buying my own. I have a hard time doing that when I can just go get that one. LOL.

Here are my remotes and the excerpt from the manual. It suggests holding the lever in push or pull position will cause the oil to travel through the relief valve and cause it to overheat. There is no detent on the lever or proportional valve that I can find. If I use a bungee cord will this cause the oil to heat up or will the oil flowing through the splitter act as a heat sink?

The manual is talking about holding the handle into the on position, when it's NOT hooked up to something.

Good decision. If you do not like it, you can sell it and get your investment back.

I would never own one for many reason:
Slow
Ties up tractor
Pain to store and move
Hate 3pt hookups
No need for splitting large tough rounds

I sold my gas splitter this year. I rented a processor to handle firewood and that was a game changer. Cut and split 12 cords of logs in 15 hours.

If you don't mind me asking, how much $ to rent a firewood processor ?

Anyone should have their ears open for a screaming relief valve.

$450 for 16 hours of machine time. It sounds expensive until you figure out how long it would take to cut logs into rounds an split them. But the other advantage is very minimal effort. I will be able to process firewood until I am no longer able to stack it. This was our first time and it looks like we can do a cord an hour. $30 to cut and split a cord of wood in one hour is very reasonable.

There's a rental company that has a processor but it looks like all it does is position the log so it can be cut. It's easy to cut and get very close to the same size but you are still using your chainsaw. It's heavy so it can't be towed with a 1/2 ton pickup. The size of the split pieces is still kind of large. In the end you would need to have lots of wood to cut up to justify the cost. For a couple of cords it's overkill. Also if you want smaller pieces you still have to do some splitting. Every year I when I start the splitting process I dream about how nice it would be to just load logs onto a processor and have a nice pile of split wood at the end of the day. I think it was $400 a day plus delivery/ pickup fees.

Apparently reading and following instructions from an owners manual is even more rare, at least with some folks.
Doing something at your risk is yours, advising someone else to go against the owners manual is ........
