What modern vehicle has a "BUMPER" Just a cheap cosmetic thing that will cost you thousands if you bump into something.

Our 72 Olds Delta 88 had massive steel bumpers AND a shock absorbing system for slow speed impact. That was cool. Nothing cool about plastic garbage.

I know rear bumpers were optional on my 1978 Ford F100. And you had a choice of a chrome one to match the front one or a step bumper.

They don't even call them bumpers anymore. They are plastic bumper covers. The real bumper is underneath them and visible after you hit something at 5 mph and knock your $1000 bumper cover off.

Last new pickup I bought was a 78. Rear bumper was an option I didn't buy. Came wid de Delco heater motor dat crapped out right after warranty ended too, and Delco D-211 condenser down in bottom of HEI distributor too. Miserable government mandated POS engine wasn't an option. Sinclair TV sat on dash just fine and worked good too. Heavy duty heater was an option. Radio was option I didn't buy, spent 10 bucks buyin factory AM/FM off shelf at car stereo shop and buried 2 speakers in doors. Body was made of recycled BandAid cans. Pulled the cheap bench seat out and replaced wid Bostrum torsion bar seats. Chevy forgot how to build pickups by den.

Super pissed yesterday, watching some YouTube Videos. Apparently Toyota had an amazing TURBO V8 Diesel that we never got to have and is now being phased out! THAT would have been my next pickup.

When I was old enough to become interested in cars, mid 50's - early 60's pretty much every car advertisement had "radio & heater. Also up in the mountains of Co. during the daytime all you could get was local am stations but after dark we could get KOMA from Oklahoma or KOA in Denver.

My friend has a a supercharged full sized Toyota pickup .

A factory order and warrantied but installed by the dealer.

It was expensive and they don't offer that option anymore.

DIESEL? The You Tube Piece actually made no mention of pickups though, just SUVs. Nowadays, when you hear abut a "GOOD" Diesel for vehicles, you take notice.
