I was thinking about dragnet the other day.

1970, college, full time beer drinking. 4-5 of us guys would get together, pop a few cold ones and watch dragnet for only 1 reason.

We would count the number of times they nodded to each other, like in agreement. Sounds stupid until you gotta drink a beer every time they nod, it was funny. Those were the days.

Just before the 5pm news we got the last 2 minutes of the bold and the beautiful, we found it hilarious watching the actors trying to outdo each other with silly faces which were meant to represent shock/surprise/horror before the closing titles, could never understand how anyone could endure an hour of this.

And don't forget, just up the road from you, is Siler City! To say Siler City, you have to put in a bunch of i's, as in Siiiler City. :D

Strange fact, when Francis Bavier( Aunt Bee ) retired from acting, she bought a home in Siler City to live out her days. I think she lived in a petty big house on East Raleigh street.

Later,
Dan

I know folks that live in Siler City and for me, it was a short cut to from Raleigh to Charlotte, Atlanta and cities beyond.

I do not know this personally but, I've heard a bunch of times from a bunch of folks, Aunt Bea was a real squirrel. Very much a lock in hermit that would only come out at night.

I'm just spreading rumors here but, I always thought Aunt Bea was a tight a** anyway, I'm more an Ottis kinda guy. And I meant the Darlings, not the Dillards.

Andy played a country bumpkin singer/politician in a movie who became both famous and evil. Very different Andy, great movie.

I've been all over the western world. Do other nations/cultures have soap operas? I honestly do not know but, I firmly believe that people are people, regardless. If American women love this stuff I bet there is a good chance all women live this stuff.

From what I have heard, many Eastern countries have a variety of entertainment programming but quite often have tragic endings.

Andy also played against Johnny Cash as a white supremist who killed a black man. Cash played the lawman who brought him to justice.
They both were very multi talented people.

Speaking of Andy, this is probably the first thing I ever heard him do (they used to play this on the radio). Remember Ed Sullivan?

I understand they're quite popular in Latin America.

We get the CBC on our cable, and they carry some British shows. I'd consider many of them soap operas .
