Yes it does...

Self Driving Cars and Operator Optional Tractors... you have seen the future... at least for routine field and vineyard farming.

Wow. A 'hood' in indiana. Who knew? Is hood codeword for something for you? Can't quite figure out the slant you are taking? Seems objectively biased. Do you challenge your innate biases to the hood and God and all? Lol.

I think codewords like that are known as a “dog whistle”.
Who lives in a hood versus a neighborhood?

I think you're projecting your own biases. Where I grew up, we always referred to the bad part of town (East of the tracks) as the "hood". There was no racial bias (as you are implying). It simply meant the bad part of town. There weren't even any minorities that lived East of the tracks to offend with that insinuation.

Maybe your experiences did have a racial implication, but to blatantly insinuate about someone else's post/experience is disingenuous at best.

Perhaps it would be best if we all just stuck to tractors.

The monarch tractor looks interesting, but at $50k for a base model, plus $15k for a charging station, and only 10 year guarantee on battery life, it seems the economics aren't there yet.

$15k for a charging station? Do they use a proprietary one? I didn't see it on the web site. Standard chargers that work with all electric cars are in the $650 range. They'd be nuts to not use the same plug standard that electric cars use.

It's a 70hp tractor, so the price should be compared to 70hp diesel CUTs. It's still higher than diesel but not as much as some previous electric tractors. Also they are aiming it at the commercial farm market, who could use the the autonomous and data features.

I think that home non commercial electric CUTs are going to take longer to come to market since all we want is comparatively basic tractors and the market is price sensitive. A version with a smaller battery pack would work for most of us- most people here don't run their tractor for 10 hours a day. Smaller batteries and leaving out the data gathering sensors could make it closer to price competitive with diesel CUTs.

A New Compact Tractor That's Different From All Others - YouTube

Would I buy one? No, it does not fit my situation. But in my area there are many sod farms where I see someone out mowing hundreds of acres of grass all day long. Handing that boring task over to an autonomous tractor would be a time saver. It would also put a couple people out of work on each of those sod farms or possibly to perform some other task.

Since no person is required to operate the tractor it can operate day and night which would allow a smaller, more affordable machine to do the same work as a larger diesel tractor with an operator.

No operator could be beneficial with pesticide application... some crops require a lot and you see operators in hazmat suits.

I wonder what kind of pallet those units would arrive on, and if they would gather out in a field afterwards........

If pesticides aren't beneficial why are they used so much?
