If your young child has asthma, put a Chihuahua in it's bed ever night and the Chihuahua will take it away in a few years.

Turns out most kids outgrow childhood asthma and most Chihuahuas develop respiratory problems.

It's bunk.

Works better in fact than a lot of stuff people believe in every day that doesn't work at all.

All I can say, is, I'm not laughing. I played with it, but never dug a hole for water either. It's not what most people might think. It's complicated.

I've seen it work many times.
One of my brothers can do good at finding water or in ground piping,
personally I could be waist deep in a pond and the sticks or wires would be directing me towards the sky.
But I have seen it work too many times.

The New Yorker went to a conference and reported on what they saw. Lots of people tracing water pipers etc. Then they watched a guy divert an underground stream that was damaging a fire house. They also watched someone do something similar with a church. Wasn't aware of an unclaimed prize [which is sort of convincing] but the New Yorker is a pretty skeptical bunch.

James Randi - Wikipedia

It was available for 50 years. No one could perform. About a thousand people tried various paranormal things. None succeeded.

"Randi has said that few unsuccessful applicants ever seriously considered that their failure to perform might be due to the nonexistence of the power they believe they possess."

About 35 years ago wife & a friend went to a dowsers convention in Danville Vermont. We were there a few days, saw many examples of dowsing, testing, etc.
It's not bunk.

I remember the moment Uri failed. Carson brought out a tray with small containers, small filled with water. Johnny asked him to say which were full and Uri said "you can't just bring this out and expect me to tell that. And Johnny grinned and said "well, that's whole idea." Great.

I'm not sure the Randi challenge is all that definitive for dowsing. And I don't think dowsing is a "power" -- its more of a skill. Don't want to argue with you -- you do raise some good points.

There's no documented success. It all comes out the same as chance.

No one has ever claimed the $1,000,000 dollar prize for it either, because it's bunk. ;)

This is funny. I just hired a well driller for a new well at our farm; he walked around and threw a yellow flag in the ground. I asked why there, and he said because it's the head of a long dry run, always water there. I must have made a face, 'cause then he says, don't worry... we'll witch it first to be sure ! Like that was the end of the discussion. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out...
