But for limbing I prefer my MS241CM. It's got more power and cuts faster but it's still light enough for me to limb an entire large tree. Unfortunately Stihl no longer sells them in the US.
I really wish they kept selling it here, I had settled on it as a limbing saw until I saw the sales numbers. And sure enough it was pulled from the market. Most say it is a good saw that just never got traction in the US product line.

If you like the 241 pro grade just by the 261 type 2 or 3 now. They same weight basically with 50cc power.
IMO why they got rid of the $600 cost 241. The first 261 out with plain clutch cover was the pig weight wise.

You can put the 241 bar chain set up on a 261 with rim change etc. Fluid amounts held not much different either.

Mix wise just under 4 fluid ounces at 3.8 of fuel more held by 261.
Bar oil just a half fluid ounce .5 difference by stihl specs.

Here is my new $100 limber. Copy of the Zenoah Redmax 3800 I used to have. Thought why not try it out and see. Joncutter G3800. 38cc

They need a muffler mod to wake them up just like OEM did.
Over look the 25:1 they put that on all of the clones. I run 40:1 like I do in everything. Just tune for it.

Stihl still makes it they just change the numbers and letters around like all equipment manufacture's do, they just cant stick with one number. Same with Husqvarna or tractors, over the past 20 years Husky lucky there's all kinds of numbers and letters, but I think the 550xp is one of their longest model numbers since 2011-ish, now that they have that model number, stick with it and dont change it, all this changing number stuff kunfuses me........

Hate stihl flip caps. Have a fix for those over engineered stihl designed ones.

Love husqvarna flip caps. Screw in like caps should be. Can use a flip cap or old school style in saws. They got it right.

The stihl flip caps can be a bit fiddly to get in but I like that they lock down positively. With screw in caps of any type it's possible to not screw them in hard enough and end up wearing a tank's worth of premix or bar oil.

If you hate them there's a number of outfits offering screw in replacements.

Who makes those? I do not mind the flip caps, kind of like them except for one saw. I think it is a bad or wrong cap and I would not mind trying one of those. How many different sizes are there for Stihl?

They never made the small ones. So just the one size.

There was 2 company's making the stihl ones. But 1 US reseller went under with the one style. So I only know of the proline ones now being sold out of TX.

2 on the right non flippy. Only 3rd one from left is left to buy now the proline in TX.

One owner has them on all his flippy stihl saws.

Can you or anyone here recommend a good small saw for limbing? I have a couple of older Huskys for the big work but having trouble working them in the brush.

I bought a new Stihl MS-180 a month ago, it barely runs. Dealer did a new carb and at least now I can use it but it runs too lean to be of any use to me.

It is a tough little saw as I've thrown it as far as I could about 5 times now and it hasn't broken.

The dealer DID try to discourage me from buying it but the $200 price tag was intriguing.

My best guess is to buy an older used, less than 3 cubic inch saw that has a good track record.

I should have never gotten rid of my old Jonsereds 621.

Thank-You.

I needed a limbing saw and was walking through my saw shop when I saw this top handle stihl. It had a tag that said, special order sale. Went up and looked into it. A tree guy ordered a ms151 tc and never came in to get it. THey were selling it for 299. Regular is 600 with a bar and chain. I bought it right then and there. It is not Mtronic and the carb is fully adjustable. Score.

It's the lightest weight pro saw stihl makes at just over 5 pounds. It's a little ripper and is so light a person never gets tired using it.
