They never made the small ones. So just the one size.

There was 2 company's making the stihl ones. But 1 US reseller went under with the one style. So I only know of the proline ones now being sold out of TX.

2 on the right non flippy. Only 3rd one from left is left to buy now the proline in TX.

One owner has them on all his flippy stihl saws.

You ever have any old big bore saw come through your shop? I have two trees I need a big saw on, but I would rather get something old just to see how the old guys did it.

Hate stihl flip caps. Have a fix for those over engineered stihl designed ones.

Love husqvarna flip caps. Screw in like caps should be. Can use a flip cap or old school style in saws. They got it right.

I liked Husky flip caps so much I bought some for my Echo 501p, trouble is the Husky seals from the sides of cap while Echo seals from top of tank and under cap, I had to try several different O rings to get the oil from leaking out of tank, luckily I had one that worked. The gas tank seems to seal, so far, I didn't notice this issue til I bought the extra caps so when doing this red-neck engineering one should first know how the cap seals, all's I went by is if the cap screwed in, I almost screwed up......

The stihl flip caps can be a bit fiddly to get in but I like that they lock down positively. With screw in caps of any type it's possible to not screw them in hard enough and end up wearing a tank's worth of premix or bar oil.

If you hate them there's a number of outfits offering screw in replacements.

I did that last year on my Echo, I got tied of how hard the oil cap came out for refills so I stopped tighten it so tight, next thing I knew I had oil soak insulated Carhart's.....

You wouldnt believe the story's I get from owners of the stihl flip caps. Wearing the bar oil or the mix, because they didnt seat right. heck I had it happen on just saws I work on. Yes I own a bunch of saws with stihl flip caps. Chit just happens sometimes.

But that is why we have choices like ford chevy dodge etc. Everyone can choose their likes.

Give me screw in cap with a flip. Heck even echo went to a screw in with flip too sort of like the husky in pic below.

Not making sure your Stihl flippy is secure is one of those once in a lifetime experiences. Never do that again. Well, maybe twice.

I was wrong the one I bought is a MS170, yes they wanted $600 for 151, the dealer told me that is the one I should buy because it's fully adjustable.

I told him for $200 I'd try the cheap one and if I wasn't happy I'd hurl it through his office window, looks like I lied.

He did install the medium sized jet and said there is one more richer size. I was in the woods all day cutting logs today and I didn't bother to take the POS with me.

It's very frustrating to hear a saw run that lean. That's my first and last Stihl saw. My first job out of high school was working on saws at a dealership that sold Stihl and Jonsereds; I remember the 031 and 041 were nice saws back then. I'll stick with Husqvarna next time but because of Covid they were all on backorder.

I had one of those light MS150. It's the one before the 151. Pricey freaking saw, must think their gold.
Carb is adjustable if you bypass those freaking epa stops they put on them. Mine was to lean from factory so I fixed that crap. Needs muffler modded too. Like a small straw for exit. Open it full length like shown.

The echo 2511 is lighter then the 150 151 and comes in top handle and rear handle for a fraction of the stihl cost. Think the little echo's around 5.7lbs

"Carb is adjustable if you bypass those freaking epa stops they put on them" My Echo has those on its carb, guess it's so one wont screw jet in all the way, could be one plus for Husky and Stihl auto tune......

Why didn't you just remove the limiter caps?

Why didn't you just remove the limiter caps?

The one was a metal tab. Drilled it out. Other was just a plastic tab. Trimmed it off. Easy peasy.

It's not those red plastic caps. They are metal in newer one

Why waste time pulling the metal cap inside there to do the same thing. I was going to take the tab off anyway. ;)

Just like this 251 carb with 2 metal caps. Just to easy to drill the freaking tab off and never have to pull the metal caps.
