Rant on shipping

Delivery is big business and employs a lot of people. My yearly cost is $119 that I am willing pay.

I assume that is Amazon Prime yearly cost to you? Heck of a bargain and good for you!

But is surely is not Amazons cost if you get numerous deliveries in that years time. Those costs have to be paid from somewhere.

You live in Alaska, not a fair comparison:D

I spent some time up there a long time ago when I was single. Was blown away driving north of Fairbanks (in the summer of course LOL). You don't know what BFE is until you live in Alaska:laughing:

Being in your shoes, I'd probably be greatful for all and any deliveries.

I say that with respect towards you as I decided agasint living there due to trying to get it all figured out on how I would actually do it.

I know it is not a fair comparison but it works for me. The older I get the more "Ship to Door" appeals to me. I can stay at home and off the highways and survive quite well. If I lived next door to great places to shop, I would.

You're a better man than I (and I mean that).

Having being born in Maine and living by the Canadian border in NY for work in my 30's, for the last 20 years in North Carolina, I don't want to deal with snow!

Wherever you're at, I'm certain deliveries would be a much more convenient way of life. That said, from your last couple of posts I've read, overall you aren't ranting about shipping:D

Rural can have a certain appeal... the local filling station and tiny market is in middle of nowhere where I am in WA... they almost gave up the pumps after 75 years due to the cost of all the new regs...

Community rallied and we make it a point to always fill.up there...

One of the services is they will hold out and in coming packages... they don't make anything off it but it sure is a convenience because some addresses are rather deep in the woods.

Overnight First Out, Second Day is the new expensive normal at hospital but even this has issues...

We spend double now on incoming just to make sure we have it to keep surgery schedule...

Selected Overnight First Out for human tissue and the shooting that closed the distribution hub meant thousands of dollars of tissue wasted and patients did not get their cornea or grafts...

When it works it is truly magic...

I needed a medical hose in Florida and called in my order just before closing... the person I spoke with said I would have it in CA at 9 am.

I said not necessary to expedite but he said he was flying here to visit his sister... sure enough I had a face to put with the voice... and he would not take a penny... had his sister in the car as she had just picked him up...

Joe, I understand your feelings about Snow and after 57 years here, I am beginning to feel the same way. Ex and current wife were both New York girls and bloom is off both those roses as far as snow is concerned. My birthplace in Texas has been receiving considerable consideration:cool2: I enjoyed my time in NC but it is still to East Coast for me. Warmth, good food, nice places to shop and friendly people are what we are craving.

No complaints about shipping, not to say, I don't get irritated at times about it. Stress and worrying about things we have no control over is just a waste of energy. I am a Labor Saver, if nothing else.

Gave Jeff some money today. Didn't want to, but someti8mes that's the only place that has what I need at any price.

Who knows when it'll arrive.

You need to talk to Bezos and his philanthropy causes. With his vast shipping networks, a lot could be done to speed things up.

FedEx and UPS on first name with all drivers.

The Tubs of US mail of years ago now often fit in palm of one hand...

With that one exception Overnight First Out has always delivered but it sure does cost and gets used more when it has to get here even if not today.

Christmas Day I looked out and have never seen so many FedEx planes on the tarmac... it was a sea of planes...

Not a criticism... just commenting at the magnitude of the fleet at one airport.
