Some trades adding Covid surcharge of $10 to $25 for mask, gloves and shoe covers plus sanitizing tools...

oh please. I think they all took notes from the car rental folks or worked for a bank.
Fees, fees, fees, pretty soon it's a third of the bill. And probably most of the profit.

landscapers came yesterday and built a paver deck under my portable gen yesterday so it won't sit in the grass and I don't have to weedeat
around it. They didn't finish and it got dark so no idea how they left things. That will be first on my list this morning.
What I really want, since my gallon baggie with a rubber band doesn't work all that well, is to have a rubber plug for the outside of
my 50amp power cord when it's not plugged into house. I suppose I could leave it plugged into the house receptacle. Receptacle has cover, mud wasps aren't getting in there,
but house end of power cable sits outside. I suppose I could unhook it totally and hang it in the garage but that's more to fiddle with in the middle of a dark night.

good thing i got the battery backup version of my garage door opener. If I left the cable in there, with power out, I would have a hard time getting in to
get the cable so I could get power back on...freestanding garage has no separate entrance doors.

Forward Planning :) ....... no man-door is better for cost/security, but could easily lead to that "Doohhh" moment with the cord.

If you can stand the clutter, I'd be inclined to keep that cord in the house......... FFwd time...... Murphy will have his eye on that battery......

Cords walk much easier than gens..... wouldn't want to have to buy it back off fleabay......

You are moving along nicely with this project d....... esp. considering how short supplies are for many things.

I need advice on selecting a soft start module for my 1/4hp wood furnace fan motor.
During a power outage I use a Honda EU 2000i to power essential circuits including my wood furnace but when the fan cycles on it pushes the little Honda to the limit. Once the fan is up to speed the Honda runs nice & easy.
I have photos of my fan motor and a soft start module and would like your input.

Thanks

Waiting to see what the pros say......

quick glance at the Schneider site:

ATS1N13FT - soft starter for asynchronous motor - ATS1 - 3 A - 11..48V - .55..1.1 KW | Schneider Electric Canada

Seems to list for 0,5hp. I don't know these well enough to be sure how it would work at a lower hp.

Can you run that fan motor off your big inverter 90, and just use the Honda to charge batteries ?

Rgds, D.

My inverter easily powers the entire house including the deep well pump however I would need to run one of my diesel DC gensets to maintain the backup batteries after a couple hours when my wood furnace is operating in the winter.
During the heating season my wood furnace is my primary heat source and power consumer. The fan motor is a new High Efficiency model and consumes 236 running watts and operates 24/7. My batteries do not have the capacity to run this and other essentals thru the night.
The fan motor runs constant when the furnace is supplied with a steady supply of wood however it cycles off and on when the furnace starts to cool. It is this scenaro that gives the Honda EU2000i absolute fits.
A soft start module would hopefully allow the Honda EU2000i to easiy start the fan motor while also powering minimal lighting (all LED's) and 2 bedrooms with electric blankets.
Transfering this load and several other small loads such as the living room tv and the bedrooms and electirc blankets to the Honda would minimize load on the inverter batteries allowing the inverter to support the house thru the night without the need to operate the diesel generator.
