What was your first Kubota and why?

/ What was your first Kubota and why? #71
My first Kubota was my actually my sixth CUT (I still have 3). I bought them all used, and Kubotas were always a little too spendy. I finally found a really good deal on a Kubota L3010 GST, and bought it sight unseen. It purrs like a kitten and sips the fuel. I love the glide shift transmission. I leave it at our hunting land and its primary use is mowing trails and small field,

The only problem is that on our hunting camp work day, nobody wants to work. Everybody wants to operate the Kubota. I have to leave trails un-mowed so they all get a chance.

I was thinking about this thread today and my wife and I were talking about how we sure do like our tractors & in fact we like all of our machinery on the homestead. Every one has been a good to us one way or the other. And she wondered if our next one will be a Kubota?

.... and that got me to thinking.....

Probably not. There's not a thing in the world wrong with the M59; it has been our go-to machine for work & chores for almost 15 years now. We use it for everything and it is always ready for more. It just couldn't be much better.

But I get curious about machinery and always want to see what the latest tweak looks like.... & how this new generation of mechanical designers is handling the same old mechanical problems.

We didn't have a Kubota until we got this one - and it has been great! Following the same logic, if we hadn't switched from JD to Kubota we would have never known how good these orange ones work.
And that's reason enough to continue trying something different.
We will never know how good the next machine will be until we try one.

Have to agree, I always enjoy looking at equipment from any manufacturer and would go to someone else if they had better equipment for my needs. However, for my current needs it seems like i always end up back at Kubota.

One model line I really with Kubota would do a few upgrades on is the std. L.
I ended up going with a grand L (used) when I recently upgraded due to lack of independent pto and the loader joystick not being on the fender (a feature I really like on my B).

The HST+ was why I went with a 40 series over a 30 though!

My first kubota was a rtv1100 bought new in 2012. Still got it. Went on to get a m59, then upgraded a to a m62. Then the flood gate opened up. Mower conditioner, tedder, 15’batwing(landpride), kx040, svl75wc.

I loved every CUT I ever owned. They all had the same basic utility, but the ergonomics/creature comforts certainly improved over the years

1980 Shibaura SD1500AO - Grey Market tractor. Tough as nails, tippy, cramped operator station
1988 John Deere 850 - Super reliable, runs great, beginning of the CUT Modern age. Non-synchro transmission / straddle the hump
1999 New Holland TC 21 & 1925 - CUTs have hit their stride! Great ergonomics/ mid-PTOs/silky power steering and good looks
2001 Kubota 3010 GST - Outstanding fundamentals but 1/2 step behind New Holland in styling
2008 New Holland T2310 - You wouldn't things keep getting better but they do - extendable links, pin type 3pt stabilizers, overall crisp design

To rScotty's point, CUTs really have evolved nicely. I wouldn't mind having of my old ones back, but I sure do like what I have. I often wonder what I would buy next. Not sure, but probably Kioti, Kubota or Yanmar. Kind of like the Yanmar I-HMT (Integrated Hydro Mechanical Transmission), and those sexy gold wheels!

Me??? It was love at first sight. My first was in 1987, an L2250 fel and backhoe. Then, an L2550 in 03, and the saga continues... There simply is no other brand for me.

Same here. Bought a 2009 BX25 in the Fall of 2008, and never looked back. Would buy the same again.

I think Kubota owns the US CUT market because they created it. I remember the Kubota ads in Popular mechanics in the 70's. They just kept putting one foot in front of the other. People that bought them loved them, and they kept their value like crazy.

More than a few implement dealers around her had mainline AG brands, and took on Kubota as a product like extension. After a matter of years, they abandoned the legacy brands and went with just Kubota.

I often wonder what the CUT market would look like today if Yanmar hadn't chosen to private label for Deere, and had gone head to head against Kubota?

B2601 with hydrostatic transmission, loader, ballast box and quick attach plow. The main reason is in front of the tractor in the pic. Reaching 70 years with four back operations. Loader gets the batteries in the camper, loads tires, propane tanks and the 5-6 cords I burn a year for the house. I love it so far.
