Much equipment that comes with a Kubota Engine will also have the same keys.

I have never done it. But If I had theft concerns, the first thing I might do is see if a locksmith can alter the key slightly. Let the thieves "THINK" they have a key that fits your tractor.

YOU would provide the thieves with an altered key?
Why provide them with ANY key??

I reread my post. Not sure what makes you think I meant that. Alter MY keyway and keys. slightly. Allow a thief that in the middle of the night thinks they have a key that fits my tractor (maybe they bought the $85.00 all popular brnd equipment key package off E-Bay) find out that their key doesn't work!

when i read your post i understood what you meant. not sure why someone would think your providing a key.

personally i dont worry. someone is always home, have dog and have insurance.

I have too much on my plate, but it would be nice to know that common keys didn't work on ones equipment.

It is far to easy (and probably cheaper) to install a cutoff somewhere that would be much more effective at preventing a theft than changing the keys.

I interpret that statement to suggest ALTERING THE KEY slightly!
My question: Why would anyone alter a KEY slightly, thinking they could prevent tractor theft?
Maybe to leave an altered key in plain sight,... for the thief to easily find, and then be dissuaded, when it did not work in the ignition lock?

I pull a fuse out. A smart thief could probably re arrange them and get it to work but they’d have to figure out the problem first.

I have a negative battery cable cut off switch that is well disguised.
I doubt that it would be noticed or found.
I can forget about it myself though.

When everyone elses Kubota has the same key, and yours is different, that is precisely what makes that tactic so effective. Security, when it's what "everybody" does, is not nearly as effective.
