Honesty

I was at a funeral where I told a family member that I was sorry for the loss of his mother in-law. He said he was glad she was dead, that she was a bitter old woman who needed to die.

That shocked me. What do you say to that? I felt it was classless and juvenile of him to say that at her funeral.

The dead can not defend themselves.

I've heard a lot of similar comments about living in-laws here on TBN. I'm fortunate that my in-laws took me in like one of their own since day one. My wife and I are doing that with our future son in-law (it helps that we actually like him  ).

Funerals are for the living.

It is classless. I have seen ugliness like that more times than I want to remember. Wifes side of the family has extreme bitterness in some quarters. Funerals, weddings and births can be more stressful than I can bear.
Nothing like that on my side.

Agree. It’s just legal violence. I was a collegiate boxer and looking back on it, it was gross......And waking up the next day with a concussion after drinking off a loss is not going to reward me later in my older years....
That MMA stuff is just too violent. Boxing aint far behind. A lot depends on the ref.

Yep, and football ain’t far behind that. Take a look at their lifespans and the percentage that end up with CTE. Modern day coliseum games. We get to love the violence, and ignore the deaths that are for our entertainment because they are off camera a few years later. The gladiators are well compensated so we shrug.

I will say this; I consider myself an honest person, but sometimes it's best to just keep your mouth shut. I dislike confrontation, and there must be something in it to make my life better or else I avoid it. Nobody ever wins a piss fight with a skunk.
So let it be with Caesar.

Well said.

I know- I have symptoms of it- from multiple concussions, but I wasnt well compensated

To me it gets into the pot calling the kettle black, throwing stones living in a glass house, or John 8: 1-11.
When someone dies, no matter how evil they may have been, they're gone. What purpose does it serve saying how bad they were or good riddance. No one is perfect, we've all made mistakes. Speaking ill of someone else doesn't make the speaker a better person.
