Let's stick to snow pushers talk here, guys. To clarify my initial question regarding size, I mean the height, how tall is yours? I'm debating between finding a used one or building one myself.

Mine (HLA 1800) is 24" tall and 21" deep. From a capacity standpoint, the height doesn't seem to matter as much, but rather the depth. Once the depth is "full", it starts spilling out the sides.

Stan, I really like your snow pusher in that vid, man. Seems adding a back drag on that could be pretty easy, why not just a strip of of uhmw bolted onto that top edge? What do you mean by trip springs and chain? You mean mounting the snow box like people do with a plow so it floats?

I don't think it would be that hard to fab up a back drag setup, but it would probably have to be a little bigger than just an edge. The top of the pusher is quite a bit further back than the leading edge. The back drag kit is the whole top black part in this pic (not my setup):

They advertise it as fully boxed in so that you have more back dragging capacity. Wether that really matters or not, I don't know.

As far as the chains/springs, what I was thinking wouldn't be so much a trip setup but more to support some of the weight of the pusher and FEL arms when I put the loader into float. Basically, so that some of the weight still hangs on the tractor rather than a full float. Currently, with the weight of the pusher and FEL arms riding entirely on the ground, there's very little weight on the front tires. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to replicate how they use pushers on big wheel loaders.

Oh yeh, I see what you mean, the box doesn't have enough curl for that top edge to act as a scraper, so the back drag bar would have to jut out more.

I'm wondering about the fishy front end when you put it in float. I know I had a similar situation when I was using just my bucket with a ratchet rake snow edge strapped to it...taking it out of float got me back my steering.

Exactly right on the float, and that's what I've been doing too. Just pop it out of float and pick it up a tad. It really isn't a big deal, just me always trying to improve stuff! :D

OK, will do. (Let's stick to snow pushers talk here,)

My CUT blade was made to angle right.
After 3 years and 3 trashed front rims I converted to a straight push with a keeper wing on the left side.
Also I wore 2 link studded Euro chains.
Left as the spillover would be fairly controlled and always on the right otherwise I'd have 2 spillovers to contend with. (my terrain favored right spillover)
My pusher 'wing' is shy of 2 ft. so I push a fair bit of weight with my 6 ft blade.

Said it earlier, don't expect to curl snow off to the side at tractor speeds especially in the confines of a residential driveway.
Best of the best is to blow it as far away as possible, be it with a pull blower, front or rear mounted as per your budget.
Being in Quebec and a snow belt we get a lions share of white stuff.
Enough that my drift cutters are 4 (four) feet tall!
At present my home roof sports close to 3 feet of snow! Time to shovel!

Another point to consider.
If U go for a 'pull type blower' be sure you are heavy enough that no matter the snow conditions your wheels will always be in contact with the road bed.
Take it from me. Wet heavy 'snowball' snow will make for a VERY rough ride.
My weight is about 4000 lbs and wet snow is a real challenge and rough ride.

I have a Mahindra 2638, I use a snowblower on the back, and a snow push out front. The push box is 72" and I can push a good amount of snow. I find anything over 8 inches really slows things down on either end though.

Snow Push pros:
1) Can clean entrance by road right to pavement (rest is stone) when county plows mess it up

2)I get right up to areas I cannot snowblow, and can tilt my bucket completely for a steel drag edge to pull it back to an area I want to use the blower on.

3)That same steel edge allows me to scrap down ice/mush build up the driveway that can happen on warmer days when things thaw before they refreeze.

4) I can still push back snow banks and move piles around even though my buckets off

5) For quick clean ups, I can use it as a plow

There really aren't any cons, its just makes the machine a bit long IMO, but thats not a big deal. With a snowblower I think its a great option.

Gene with all do respect, you posted a video of your tractor struggling to push 8” of snow with the small garden tractor plow you welded to an SSQA. A pusher box is only going to exacerbate that problem.

I dunno what you're on about with the "struggling" thing lol, I'm just plowing 8" of wet snow off to the side and pushing it over built-up snowbanks from previous snow falls.
