thats valid. i just watched your plow video in the previous page, was that video sped up? or do you normally go that fast? is there a reason you can't plow straight down, then just load out at the end? pushing sideways like that, is a ton a of maneuvering and actually reduces your pushing capability, i make 4 passes to do 8 feet 300 feet long, coming from my atv plow, its mind-blowingly better, i thought it wouldn't be so dramatic, but it is

No, it wasn't sped up. I normally plow straight down, but there I was pushing off toward the side of the drive because it was thick wet snow. If I went straight down the drive with that, my next pass would be me trying to push a compacted 12" (or taller) windrow, and my little tractor just doesn't have the heft up front to throw that kind of snow with an angled snow blade. And that's a good thing btw, because I just don't trust the loader arms on the massey to be taking that sort of side load. That's why I like the idea of a snow box over a plow, I just think it's safer for my tractor.

There was talk of ballast in front tires.

When I bought my CUT the fronts were Calcium filled.
Bad news!
The small 12 inch rims were simply not designed to be filled!
The valve stems rotted out, leaked and ruined the rims.

Ok, that's fixed now and my newer DIY rims* are holding up well.

*I used 12 " trailer rims and had made new centers from 5/16" plate stock as weight was a good thing plus would withstand the forces from crabbing.
LOL, also have a spare, 'just in case'.

I don't know anything about pushers but wanted to let you know that I have no difficulty pushing up to a foot of snow with my 6 foot wide home built bucket. The snow never comes over the top, it just spills out the side. I made the bucket because I didn't know what I'd do when I ran out of space to use a pusher or blade. I push the length of my 150' drive and then dump it in the ditch across the street. I do have some trouble turning when the bucket is full unless I lift it a little. When you make your pusher, remember it's easier to make it narrower than make it wider.

I've got to be honest, how much of a real difference is that over a loader bucket? my bucket is 54 and it pushes snow fine, it never goes over the top (only done 5 inches so far), but i push it 300 feet. and the advantage is i can lift it into the bank. these things only seem to make sense if they are 7 feet wide and your trying to save time

Biggest benefit I saw when I bought mine was (1) rubber cutting edge to protect concrete/asphalt surfaces, (2) no bottom so didn't have to dump a bucket, and (3) I didn't have to worry about putting the bucket on the surface at the optimum angle (just up and down with loader arms, no curling forward or back). I can pile snow quote high with it by pushing up the snow bank. At least as high as a bucket since I'd always need room under the bucket to dump. I've got piles right now that are close to 8' tall and the "under bucket when dumped" dimension for my loader is 79 inches.

There's definitely a lot of ways to clear snow though! All are fun that don't involve a shovel!

i guess with the no dumping, you don't need to curl, which i agree is a bit of a pain in the ***, especially without an angle indicator (thinking of making one). I bought a set of edge tamers, and they work well. but i guess if your just going up and down, i can see how that would save a bunch of time. I also am on gravel, not sure how that would go with a rubber cutting edge.

good points though. i can see that saving me 20-30% of time, but i went from over an hour to 25 minutes, and i just grooved my r4's so i expect to be even quicker, thus not worth it for me, if i was doing miles. it would make absolute sense.

do you not backblade though stan? i saw TIM do it a bit on youtube, and to be honest he seemed to be struggling with it a bit more then his other implements he's use to. so he was actually curling a bunch

I do use a back blade to get close to one garage door that I can't drive parallel to, but the rest is the pusher. I used to use the back blade set at a 45 to do the driveway, but driving over the snow first made it hard to get it nice and clean. That's last year's video further back in this thread. I should do another one with my latest method and show off the comically large snow piles.

Haven't seen that video with Tim, but my pusher is setup so that when the loader is fully curled back, the pusher meets the ground flat. So, if I do "dump" the pusher for some reason (there may or may not have been a giant snowball made with it :D) all I have to do is curl back until it stops and I'm reset to level.
