68F, partly cloudy, and very breezy @ 14:00. High may hit 71F. Hasn't rained yet but it seems like showers are on their way in.

Was a little house wren peeking over the window frame when I put my coffee into the micro a while ago.

Took over a few shipping tubes to friend yesterday, got to test out his new 15" Evolution Cold Saw on a piece of 1/2" black pipe I had picked up at Menards for a pair of bar clamps. It's very nice with quick, square, clean cuts and nice angle clamp/vise set up ... but then for $500 it ought to be.

Picked up the old golf cart tires and rims while I was there, along with a few others. At least two of the four tires looked pretty decent - they are Carlise 18 x 8.50-8 and are the exact size used on the tow-behind vacuum unit I want to build ... (y)

Got seven boxes of cat litter moved into the garage, three taken around back and into the basement.

Went up to clean up that one bucketload of grass clippings and work it into the compost pile and went around to the other side and realized there was a whole lot more grass clippings that I forgot were there. So spent a couple of hours and got most of those worked into the pile and buried. Rain not due until late tomorrow afternoon at this point ... so I'll try and get those finished up here in a little bit.

Probably need to refuel the Kubota after I finish.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Good morning to all! Well the snow didn't materialize overnight.... just delayed, now expecting it this afternoon. We had some strong winds overnight with just a little snow which is plastered on the east facing vertical surfaces... strange looking.

Still windy/gusty and cold... finally reached 32°

Drew, I hope there isn't anything too serious with the shoulder.... another complicated joint.

Wing, I am envious of you being able to get out on the tractor.... (y)

David, always good to take care of your lady! Glad you guys had an enjoyable dinner.

As per the Dr's recommendations, I got some 20-30 mm/Hg compression stockings to help with the lower leg edema. I am hoping they will help. They actually feel pretty good so far.... Really tight to get on and off.... who needs PT after putting them on, you get a good workout just doing that!

Everyone have a great day!

I’ve been wearing compression socks for 13 months, took the edema away in 2-3 days, amazing things. I wore my first pair of regular socks last night to the meeting. But I’ll only wear the compression socks for daily use.

The Wife has been getting a bunch of phone calls and emails, allegedly from SiriusXM, regarding an overdue amount of $247.51. This prompted me to check our account a couple weekends ago and find that they hadn't cancelled a radio we no longer have. With no small amount of aggravation, I got the radio issue straightened out. The phone calls and emails persisted, however, and we even got a letter in the mail a couple of days ago. So, I called SiriusXM today. What a treat that was. They have an endless maze of phone computer options, none of which involve talking with a human being. After several attempts at using the old standby of saying nothing in the hopes it would connect me with a real person, I finally found that pressing zero enough times will get you there. "Ann" (who sounded like a stereotypical operator from Minnesota) turned out to be very helpful in both confirming that we have a zero balance due, and escalating the complaint to higher ups for investigation since it appears someone got access to all of our account information.

Technology is wonderful, no?
When the Mrs. cancel XM end of last year lady on the phone try her best not to have account discontinue even made much lower offer,Mrs. ask why didn't you offer the lower discount sooner, lot of hmmm and hawing,Mrs. said cancel.

Guess when you corner such company they will start to talk, shouldn't have to pry it out of them.

I threatened to cancel service about five years ago, I now pay $5.99 month. If it ever increases I’ll cancel it and just Bluetooth Pandora.

I tried to cancel one of our radios last year when I had to scrap that car, and my new car doesn't have satellite radio. I thought that was done until I logged into the account about a week-and-a-half ago only to find that radio was still listed as active ... a year later. My chat conversation took over half an hour, and most of that was time the person on the other end spent trying to entice me into a "better" deal to keep it. I've had about three run-ins with SiriusXM since we got a subscription in 2012, and none of them have been what I consider "customer friendly." Today, I had to call them four different times before I could reach a human.

As much as I like the service they provide, I absolutely hate dealing with them. Maybe I could convince Elon Musk to use his new satellites for a music service, too. SiriusXM needs some competition.

61 in heavy fog in Markham VA. Elevation is 1200 feet here and fog is fairly common.
Drove in light rain most of the way but it was ok.
Waiting for brother's son to come home later this afternoon and we will pack my car up with the last of my boxes. With my shoulder out of wack, my carrying capacity is really limited, can't raise left arm above waist high. I think I need a full overhaul...;)

Flood warning at home in PA, heavy rains there, going to get muddy. At least it watered my potatoes and flower planters. Yes, Popgadget you would have gotten soaked out in this.

The Park cedar tree I was cutting out of the oak tree did not want to come down. Luckily the big blue tractor with grapple was available to yank it out of the tree, and haul it to the burn pile.

Then we went to the playground area to clear the cedars and underbrush so the rattlesnakes could not hide from the kids when they come next month.

New mower got the grass cut in dogs’ area.

Practically rebuilt my David VP2 weather station. Unmounted and completely disassembled and cleaned. Tune up kit included new anemometer parts, rain spoon tipper, battery, solar panel cover.
Only the transmitter board/case and temp/ humidity sensor electronics not replaced. I even painted the case to look better with the new cover. While I got a great appreciation for the unit and it’s construction, I also realized this must be a very profitable item.
The good news is it worked when powered up. 🤙

Got home late. Interstate shut down due to tanker on fire so took back roads. Took me near by old coworkers house, so drove by to see if I could find it, he was outside bringing recycles to curb. I wasn’t sure it was him hadn’t seen him in probably 6 years. He didn’t recognize me till I told him who I was. We talked for over an hour, was a great impromptu meeting. Then realized my low gas light was on, so got half a tank.
Called dad to say happy birthday. 2 people brought him food for supper.
Happy B'day to your dad, I know it's tough with covid and aging, but I hope he got some good food. Your FIL has a treasure trove of human powered antiques. I've powered one of those clamp on grinders many times.

Mostly, I mostly skied on Connaly, and EP, but I always reached for a Maharajah when I had the chance to.... I couldn't figure out "big people" till I got to the end of your post.

Ron, nice picture. My wifey thought that chipmunk was "so cute".

Wifey and daughter are having some good talks last few days. I thank God for my wife. My daughter is the type of good natured person, that gets easily swayed by "characters" in her life. Nothing horrible, but stuff that she knows better.

Drew, drive careful. How do you like your new ride?

LS, good news.

RNG and TxDon working hard with saws and tractors.

ALERT #1
Guys....you might want to do a manly amount of research before you pick up a copy of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition this year. (makes me want to puke).....

ALERT #2
Here's a video which explains a lot of why we get so many scam calls. There are a few very key sentences when he is explaining the racket. They take advantage of good hearted elderly folks. Turns out, much of the problem stems from India. I say we cut off their internet for a month, then if they pay back every dime and punish the racket, we'll think about turning it back on.

Prayers for our team, especially those in pain or worry, and our country,

Poured first cup of coffee. 46° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 65° with cloudy skies and afternoon rain. Got waterfall filter pump line dug out yesterday. Can tell it was leaking last year. But cannot tell where leak is. Will have to install filter and pump to see leak. Not today. After some complaining to American Home Shield when they asked me to renew my contract. They agreed to replace furnace that was installed last January. While a High Efficiency Furnace was installed it did not have 2 stage burner and variable speed. New one is suppose to have these features. After having these features for 20 years I missed the first stage burner and quiet low speed operation of old furnace. Contractor will be out to install it today. No other plans for the day.
New spring visitors to feeders. Cowbird.

RNG, that is only chipmunk I have seen at my place this year. Good food for Fox and Coyote.

Mostly, where are the big peoples bikes?

Kyle, thanks for video.

David, good rebuild of Davis weather station went well.

Randy, lots of neat antiques.

Don, almost like you never left Lee County with projects.

Thomas, I had similar problems with XM. When I need help with the service. Always got someone that I could barely understand. When I finally had a enough. Called to cancel. Got someone that had english as their first language. To late cancel. Poor service and bad pricing will get canceled in my book every time. So far my home warranty company is working to correct their mistakes from last December.

RS, I lost count. How many cats do you have?

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

low 46, high 48°F. Wind SSW 13 mph. 40% chance of rain.

A thunderstorm rolled through last night, the rain pounded down hard!

Trip to the vampires' went off without a hitch. I didn't wash the car, let the rain do it instead.

The kittens both go for the big snip today, so they are not all that happy and probably pretty hungry as they haven't had anything to eat since supper last night, unless they got some game in the house.
I just spent the last hour and a half trying to catch these two. NO joy. They aren't going to get the big snip today.

Scammers, if you don't speak clear concise English don't bother to call me because you won't like the response you get.

I had one 3 years ago that tried to tell me they were from the IRS and I owed a huge amount of taxes. Now remember I am a Canadian and earn zero money in the 'States. Nor do I haul to the states anymore and not since 2012. I jacked him around until I got tired of trying to translate his english, at which time I shut him down.

I had another one try to tell me they were the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency, our version of IRS). Now remember, the CRA doesn't phone you, they send letters. This asshat tried to tell me that he was sending the FBI to come and arrest me for income tax evasion. I told him to bring it on as I was parked just down from the cop shop which I was. I still haven't seen a cop other than in passing on the road.

Scammers, I HATE them, all of them!

Have a safe day all

52 and heavy fog. Going to 74 and sun by afternoon.

Toppop, cool stuff...one item looked like it could roast coffee.

Kyle, started the video, looks interesting...will finish after my chores.

Mostly, I'm with Ron, those Big people need bikes.

Rained all day yesterday, so finished my son's taxes after getting more info from them, and other paperwork.

Morning all! 47 heading to 65/70!
Oak tree is now split all the way down to the ground. Pine tree is bent about 6 feet out of plumb. Both are falling down slowly. Hopefully will have a crane coming today to take it down. In the mean time I cleaned out the garage in case the pine comes down. Sure glad most of the snow is gone and the yard is dry so I could drive the cars to the other side of my yard. Tractor and implements are hopefully safe too! No wind in the forecast till monday but this rain will soften up the ground. (fingers crossed it holds till the crane comes) Feel bad that this will cost the neighbor more than we thought. Is just to dangerous to fell with it all tangled and rotten. Will grab some more pictures if possible.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

50 degrees this morning, going for a high of 68 and the light rain currently falling is supposed to end by mid-morning.

Does anyone know anything good or bad you'd share about Humana Medicare Supplement insurance. It could be posted here, or sent to me in a private message.

Long, dull story, but I've always had health insurance through the City of Dallas from which I retired. Each year they emphatically notify all retires that "IF YOU EVER DROP THE CITY INSUANCE YOU CAN NEVER GET BACK ON IT."

And of course they really want to be rid of us. So they made the insurance for retirees different from that for current employees, and they changed providers this year, which meant to something some of our doctors do not accept, sent the ID cards way late, etc.

Anyway, I spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday with a salesman who has recommended Humana for us, and I have a lot of reading to do today, but any information would be appreciated.
