what to do with an old car?

I'd want their paperwork on the transfer of the vehicle. I "gave" my mothers car to a local cancer charity (if I recall) with the obligatory "you can write this off your taxes and we'll pick it up for FREE"

So did it.... number of weeks later, I got a letter from them stating that the car didn't qualify as it wouldn't start (or something)

Kind of ticked me off as a blatent misrepresentation.... but car was gone and too late so moved on with life.

Personally.... I will never entertain that again with my local people that advertise that.

Different line of thinking between making money on knowing what will happen in the future so you know what to do to make money as opposed to sincerely appreciating the things you had in the past.

I honestly never ever thought I'd feel like I do now about my early 70's Oldsmobile Cutlass (that I refered to as the "U boat") that I had for college.

When I think about that 440 Cuda, I don't think of it for the money I could of made selling it now, I think about only wanting to keep it.

I'm still somewhat envious of one of my friends sons who will be inheriting the gree car in the pic LOL

I bought a 2003 BMW Z4 for the wife that was donated to the Lighthouse Childrens Home in Tallahassee a couple years back. I got it for a couple grand under book. They couldn't figure how to get the top down and it had a check engine and airbag light on. The top issue was an easy one where it had the package tray lifted in the trunk and that just had to be let down. The check engine light was a bad thermostat that made the engine warm up too slow. I also had to replace all the tires and brakes. The airbag light is still on but the car runs pretty sweet. We enjoy putting the top down and riding to the beach in it.

Even if the paint is toast and needing an interior a Galaxy convertible with a big block has to be worth a few grand if it isn't wrecked or rusted out.
jmo of course.

With the dollars value dropping classic cars are a growing investment strategy.

The now thing is Facebook Marketplace. Post it there. You'll sell it as fast as you can put a good price on it. Be careful what you price it at. Seller's remorse and all......

About two months after I gave my pickup to ASPCA - got a letter from them with value that they sold it for. Made them a nice contribution and a tax deduction for me.

Mine isn't even in the same category, but a couple weeks ago I stuck a low price tag on my old 4x4 Ranger and parked it out front. Nobody goes down my road so I didn't think much about it. Tuesday while out of cell range I got a call and text from somebody who was really interested in it... today I ordered a title to replace the one I haven't been able to find. I'll make just enough to pay the title fee, and cover the 10 ply tires I put on my Colorado last fall.

My point being the same as others have said. It's an old, classic convertible which ran when he parked it. The OP may be surprised what he can sell it for.
